Note these are metal drill-bits and not metal-drill bits. If you want to drill metal look for cobalt (very expensive) bits. These bits are made of metal not made for metal. I swear they name these deceptively on purpose…all bits are metal…but when you use metal in the name you wrongly think they are for drilling metal.

I think you're seeing advertising deception where there isn't any.

These work fine in metal, they clearly say metal is one of the materials on the packaging and I've used them for metal. Even cobalt or titanium can be destroyed quickly in metal if not ued properly. With any bit, even the most expensive high end ones, you have to use slow speed and cutting oil. The thicker the metal, the more oil you need to use and breaks you need to take to let it cool down.

If you plan to regularly drill I beams or similar, then no, these aren't the right bits (they'll do it, you'll just have to take a long time and use lots of oil and take breaks). For that you need some very expensive specialized bits.

I've used basic black oxide bits in metal just fine with proper procedure.

Would these be appropriate for a hammer drill?
Nope, you'll destroy them in seconds. Hammer drills are for use with carbide tipped masonry bits.

Now a hammer drill in non hammer mode, then yes, of course they'll be fine, just a regular dril at that point.

Are these good quality for wood and concrete? I need to get rid of rusted drill and driver bits and get something that is magnetic and good quality
Perfectly good for wood. Concrete, absolutely not.

These are not magnetic, no drill bits are. You can buy a magnetizer for them but not sure why you would need a magnetic drill bit? If you drill through metal, they will magnetize a bit and hold the shavings on the tip usually.

Will this work on a Ridgid Drill/Driver Tool?
If it has a regular tightening friction chuck, yes. If it has a hex insert where you snap the bit in, no, not unless you buy a chuck adapter for it. They sell hex shank drill bits for those type of drills.

EDIT sorry ignore the above, I see these are hex shank (they have another similar set that isn't). So yes if it is a hex snap in type driver, these will work fine.

According to the listing, yes
Where in the listing does it say that? Definitely not for a hammer drill. They will work in an impact driver but that is a totally different thing (rotational impacts, not linear pulsations).

Would be nice if they included for concrete also. Do you have a recommendation for driver bit, I hate why there are so many different type of Phillips driver.
I like the Milwaukee Shockwave or the Dewalt Maxfit. Here's the ones I have on most of my impact drivers at the moment:

If you don't have a variety pack of different size bits and drive types, get a combo pack. The ones I link above fit most screws in normal applications, but I use different bits all the time.

Single use bits
Not from my experience. Sure they don't last as much as the ones that cost 5x as much but that's fine with me, I'd rather have 5 fresh bits than have to sharpen better ones. I used to do that and find this much more convenient. I grab the 21 piece set for $15 every time it goes on sale.

For standard (not impact or hex shank) drills, the 21 piece set goes on sale for $15 or $16 and includes multiples of the smaller bits. I liked the old black oxide version better but these seem to hold up almost as well. Just something to keep an eye out for.

the ones here are designed for impact drivers, with impact connectors (work with regular drills as well).

the ones you link to are fine, for general use, and probably for most uses.

these are just... 'nicer', perhaps more durable.

Just bought these today from Lowe's, pretty much the same price. Super cheap for a set of bits. What's nice is the boxes connect and lock together if you have multiple of these types of DeWalt boxes.

*Correction, mine from Lowe's seems to be a better deal, it's a 14 piece not a 12 piece and I paid a dollar more.
Lowes set is not impact rated with 1/4" hex shank.

Concrete bits are made for concrete, wood bits are made for wood, these "metal" bits are not made for metal, they are basically wood bits, and they are nearly the lowest quality of bit. They WILL drill metal, and they WILL wear out very fast, they are not made for metal, which is what I said in my original post. You make some very good points, and are very helpful, but carbide and cobalt bits (again very expensive) are made for metal, which is what the name of this product is implying. Just like you I'm trying to inform, these are not made for metal yet they name them metal bits deceptively.

That 14-pice set from Lowes is not for impact drivers though; they're just standard drill bits.

edit: sorry for the unintentional repeating of this point, I now see this was mentioned a couple of replies earlier.
