Beware, a lot of reviews pan the Kindle version for lack of a useable index or search feature:

The greatest cook book ever, have an edition from the 60s that has been passed down in my family and still useful.

The ultimate cookbook. When I was 20, & in my first apartment, this book was a godsend for my kitchen noobiness. I still have an emotional attachment to my copy from the many hours spent searching, reading, & dissecting recipes. From what I gather, my experience is a shared one over generations. It really is an amazing slice of Americana.

Not sure how well it works digitally though... I did use the index a lot to find recipes given a main ingredient or two. Seems like reference books are probably best in physical form, but I'm curious what others' experiences are like w kindle cookbooks.

Was to pull the trigger and thought "wait a minute, this feels familiar" checked my Kindle library and it appears I already purchased this on a previous Slickdeal. Haven't read it since. YMMV

The newest edition is geared towards folks that want to cook "healthy" style, which means that a lot of these recipes will be tasteless compared to the old ways of cooking like grandma used to.
