the price is low but the Nest Hub is slow too.

Please have expectation this is not any faster than a 10 year old Nokia.

I think they are trying to to phase this out and replace it with a Pixel Tablet + dock. The driving idea is you might as well put that tablet that's sitting under your sofa to work.

So I purchased on about two years ago and got a LED smart light bulb to go with it.

One day I said, set the brightness to 10% (I was talking about the light bulb) and the display dimmed to a point where I can barely read it. When I said raise the brightness to 90%, it now made the light bulb at 90% level.... this happened about 2 months ago. To this very day, I can not change the brightness level and it seems to be stuck at 10%. I am sure I can reset everything and reinstall everything... surely that would fix the problem but I am too busy and too lazy.

Oh well.... now I just say "GOOGLE WHAT TIME IS IT" instead of looking at the hub that I can not read most of the time.
You should just reset it bud.

Which one is better for home automation? Echo or Nest Hub?
i have both and use alexa for all home automation and google for searches. i also have ring/alarm/camera eco system and it integrates nicely with alexa with features that use echos as additional sensors. alexa has more third party integrations. google recently killed off life360 integration. you can ask alexa where someone is and it will reply with the address/location, whether they are stationary or driving and how long it will take to drive to/from that location.

While I generally like the Nest Hub (when it's working), mine restarts at least 4 times a day. That is not an exaggeration. It also gets stuck on the "No connection. Check your internet" screen very often, even though everything else is connected and having no problems. I have to unplug it and plug back in, then it immediately connects again. Those problems started within a few days of buying it, but I was too lazy to exchange it. Yes, it's up to date. No, I didn't do anything to cause those issues. I'm not an electronics noob. I just got one of the buggy ones. It's unfortunately relatively common with these. As long as you get a good one, this is a great price.

My Lenovo Smart 2 Clock was doing this until I switched the Wifi that it connects to on a 2.4 ghz only band. Before it was on a 2.4/5 Auto band. No issues since. Perhaps it's related to 5ghz.
