Can these be set up for wireless AP only? Leave the routing to the main router, I just want to use these for mesh wifi. Is that possible?

Look for EasyMesh support. I see some of TP-Link's Deco devices are supported and lots of ASUS devices but not TCL when doing a quick Google. So you will need to dig into TCLs documentation. But in general, EasyMesh is not mass supported because they would rather you just buy their devices to expand the mesh network.

Yes I know. Short answer is they are not compatible. If you want one of them work in a subnet that is fine.

I have bought and installed the 3 unit kit of these TCL Mesh systems. They work really well, I was kind of surprised. I bought just one kit and after installing - I bought 4 more for clients. I also like the ability to hard wire into any of the units if that is needed. I bought 2 of the 2- packs this time. Do not let the cheap price fool you- I have been very happy with them.

This is much better when compared to similar price junk offered at Walmart i.e., tp-link/netgear routers advertised as AC1200 whilst their WAN port is limited to 100mbps only.
