About this item:- Room mapping: A LiDAR sensor on top of the vacuum scans your rooms in seconds and builds a floor plan on your phone that you can see, edit, and save
- Quick & efficient cleaning: Using the map built by the LIDAR sensor, Wyze Robot Vacuum divides rooms into sections and moves around in straight lines for the most efficient path possible
- Multi-surface vacuuming: Wyze Robot Vacuum cleans all surfaces, hard flooring and soft carpet. It can cross height gaps up to 0.8 in (20 mm) to clean across any bumps in the road
- Virtual Walls & Area Selection: Create virtual walls and restricted areas. Have cords under your desk? Dog bowls in the corner? No problem. Tell your Wyze Robot Vacuum where it can't go
- Self-charging: Wyze Robot Vacuum drives itself back to the charging station after it?s finished its path. Or if the battery gets low during cleaning, it returns for a charge before picking back up right where it left off

Also, people in the past have complained about the wheels leaving black streaks on the floor by the charger. I haven't experienced this so maybe they already fixed the issue.
eufy has one with home mapping for only $100

But… I like the ability to name and separate the rooms and the ability to have no go zones. The eufy I have can't do this and it is something we want.
Just not sure yet if those two features outweigh everything else.
If the wyze did not have no go zones it would be returned immediately. This thing gets stuck EVERYWHERE. Never had that happen with the other one.
I keep seeing that Roborock thread and wonder how much better those are. They are a lot more though.
Just noting that the other vacuum I have doesn't have the no go zone ability on the map, but hasn't ever been stuck. It can go where the wyze can't. Wyze gets stuck, and the other doesn't. Pro and cons to both.
There have been several evolutions in robot vacuums. The initial ones would travel in a straight line until they collided with something. Once the collision happened, they would turn slightly and repeat. To my knowledge, this is the only version of robot vacuums that do not map a house or room. They take longer to clean and may miss some spots as a result.
vSLAM and LIDAR are two of the most common mapping technologies with LIDAR being the more popular. If the vacuum does not map your room, it will clean your room less efficiently; furthermore, most LIDAR vacuums do no have a large enough battery to facilitate the random "bounce off objects" method of cleaning.

Upper area is half of the lower one but all carpet. This does a horrendous job of cleaning carpet. It will not pickup small things in it's path, gets stuck under the bed or nightstands and overall cleaning power and efficiency are not there. The bin is also very small, and for downstairs where it cleans every night it gets full. I don't have any dogs or pets.
For the price, I think it's worth keeping it just so that the rooms get a 'dusting' every day, especially the hardwood floors. Still contemplating on what to do with the carpet one. Instinct is to return it and try something else. Perhaps the Eufy with 3000 pa suction for $40 more might be a good try. Wanted this to work in the carpeted bedroom very much because that's where most of the dust, hair, etc accumulate.
Kind of wish I had bought 3 for each level now. Lol.
Only thing it can't do so far is make it over the chindi rugs I use by the outside doors. I have to pick them up before starting it. It does make it over the area rugs and little kitchen mats.
