last year when they had this deal, i just used that $20 digital member bonus card to buy a regular REI $20 e-gift card which don't expire lol. Have the terms changed that you can't use it to buy regular gift cards??

I purchased a REI gift card using PayPal. It took 7 days but I did get the email from chase offers notifying me of $20 credit. So it does work

Redeeming your $20 REI Co-op Member Bonus Card
$20 Digital Member Bonus Card is valid 12/27/2022 12:01am – 1/5/2023 11:59pm Pacific Time.
This single-use promotional card is issued by REI Customer Services, Inc.
This card can only be used in one qualifying transaction at REI stores, REI.com, REI Outlet, or 1-800-426-4840.
This card will not carry an unused balance; any unused amount will be forfeited at time of redemption (except where required by law).
Only one promotional card may be redeemed per transaction.
Qualifying transaction can include rentals or shop services but only if the transaction is made at an REI store. Card cannot be used in online rental reservation transactions. Transaction must occur before card expiration, but services need not be completed prior to card expiration.
This card cannot be used to pay for prior purchases, REI classes or day trips, REI adventure travel, shipping charges, return labels, exchanges, memberships, gift memberships, passes/tickets, ***gift cards***, backordered and preordered items, donations to the REI Cooperative Action Fund or on Corporate & Group Sales purchases. Not redeemable for cash or credit (except where required by law).

Tried to stack with my chase card. Great deal if it works, but dealing with the restrictive bonus card and the uncertainty of the chase cashback makes this deal annoying.
