I'm an Iron worker and love Thorogood boots. USA made and very comfortable. Going on 3 years now and there still holding up. I've wore them down to the soles, stitching was burnt out when welding and there still holding together well.

Got a 10yr old pair of 6" Moc toes that are just now beat up enough that they've been relegated to choring-only. And I could sleep in them too. Comfy as slippers. I'm terrified of the day someone tells me Thorogood has been bought by private equity or absorbed into [brand].

I oiled mine up with some Huberd's grease and wore them in the snow, feet were nice and dry. Fully submerged in water might be a different story.

I switch between these and Carolina's both great boots both made in the USA and I get them when on sale like this. Thanks for the post. I do concrete everyday so I burn through a pair a year

These are great boots. Not sure about the briars but the wellington has a huge amout of heel slip. Enough to half size down. I bought some earlier this year and had to return. Too much to be wearable after break in

Probably some Muck Boots then if you're consistently in the water in ditches. I have an older pair of Thorogood boots and they soak up water quite a bit. I have never put oil on them though so maybe that could help
