good price but my wife's 4 and even this both broke at the cheaply made clasp that connects the screen to the wristband. on the 4 we repaired with fitbit twice. the 5 we were going to do the same but she lost it at an event cause the clasp fell off.

I have this watch. The subscription just offers you more in-depth analysis of the data from the band and recommended workouts. Gps, eda, ECG, sleep tracking and all activities don't need a subscription to work.

The Fit Premium page [fitbit.com] breaks it down further but a quick overview indicates that without the subscription, "Basic insights" into "Health and fitness stats" such as activity, weight, sleep and nutrition are included for the past 7 days. Beyond that, the subscription offers:

Daily Readiness Score
Premium challenges
Stress Management Score breakdown
Health metrics trends for the past 90 days
Wellness Report
Advanced skin temperature details (Sense only)
200+ workouts
200+ mindfulness sessions
Sleep Score breakdown
Blood glucose trends

Durability sucks and warranty takes forever. Don't get me wrong, device is REALLY great, and live the form factor. But, after 3 failed units in a couple months (and right after return window), just not worth it.

If you're cheap like I am, the MI Band is a really good alternative to fitbit and provides great value. Would definitely suggest taking a look at their products if this is too pricey for you.

There's no need for a subscription, but you're not wrong about the accuracy. Fitbit to me is more of a toy than an exercise tool.
I also had a Charge 2 for a very long time, and my family also used Fitbits, but one by one they failed and switched over to Apple Watches and Garmins. I hear you that the Fitbit is a toy, but when a Garmin Forerunner 45, for example, tracks all the same metrics but with greater accuracy plus a more useful app, twice the battery life, etc... there is just zero reason to give Fitbit any more money.

Thanks for listing it out, these features have been available for free on the mi band app / zepp life app.

Not a good product, does not work. No idea why even allowed to sell at a reputable retailer like Costco.

Do not buy.

If you want a Fitbit seriously check out what Garmin has to offer instead. You can get a Vivofit, Vivoactive or Instinct for a little more. The features and accuracy of these wearables really beat out Fitbit. I switched a few years ago and will never go back to FitBit.

Plus on the Fitbit Charge 5, they got rid of altimeter so there's no stairs climbed metric anymore. They literally are stripping away features.

Works great for me. Had the charge 2 and now 4, it's still works great and battery lasts a week. I don't have premium and get all the useful info I need. I've thought about a smarter watch, but the idea of a big bulky unit that needs charging every other day is not appealing to me.

I hate products where half the people say they love it and half say it doesn't work and hate it.

fitbits are great when they work, just expect a 2 year lifespan at most. I bought my Charge 5 second hand for $40 after my charge 4's screen became so dim it was unusable.

Bought one for my kid. the app does not allow a child (age 13-) account to connect to this device. Had to return it.

These are notorious for having a software glitch where the tracker will fail to track some or all statistics after a certain period of time. My Wife's had this issue right out of the box and mine developed it shortly after the warranty expired. My Wife is on her 2nd Charge 5 and it stopped tracking her sleep. Google is aware of the issue but has offered no resolution to the issue. I'm back to using my Charge 2 which is still kicking.

I heard a lot of people have skin burn with this model. Is it a problem in general for most wrist bands or this one in particular?

The Charge 5 is a piece of junk. There is a known issue with the battery/software/firmware and after 8 months there is no resolution. Fitbits solution is to turn off all the features to make the battery last longer than a couple hours!! Huh??

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/C...20/page/79

Even though Fitbit has marked this "solved" it is not.
