Great price but most of the reviews state it isnt consistant speeds and has frequent drops.

I wonder if this is portable as long as you have an oulet for power?
I had this from its inception, originally it wasn't too bad-as time went on the signal got worse and buffered like nuts, 3 TV's a pc and phone. I finally gave up after 7 months and terrible to non-existent customer service. The price is definitely tempting, btw, their newer modem was worst than their first, I had a pc fan underneath to cool it down, no difference.
If true it's a no brainer. I have the service. You can expect 100mbs-300mbs. Down time nonexistent.

I have two different cousins try their service at two different locations where they were getting about 200-300 mbps readings on 5G with their phones. Both tried the internet service and both said it was too spotty and was never consistent. Kept getting disconnects and gaming (for ex. Apex Legends) was terrible since it would randomly lag and was unplayable. One of them said it was worse than their 60mbps Centurylink service they had before. Both returned the equipment/service. It sucks because supposedly we should have decent towers here in the Twin Cities of MN.
I live in syr NY and had the same issues with drops in connection. But I had fios and was having the same issue as well. Switched back to fios but still get drops from the fios router.

It royally sucks. I'm going to guess this offer only lasts 3 weeks so existing customers can't cancel and get T-Mo Internet again while the promo lasts. Then those people will be left out in the lurch. I sure hope loads of existing $50 Home Internet customers call to let T-Mo what they think of how T-Mo screws their existing loyal customers.

I live near a tower and get good speeds, so this has worked fine for me, but once they load it up every tower with tons of $25 customers, I'll be paying $50 for worse service than before while everyone else gets it for $25. It's a double whammy. I didn't get too upset at the $40 offers ($120 per year savings), but $25 is a $300 savings.

I have a 2nd ISP which I can fall back on for 30 days. Besides assuming T-Mo won't keep this promotion for 30 days (it probably ends 12/31), the other problem is I remember those "free phone" offers with trade-in require that you don't change your service for 2 years. I still have about 6 months left. I bet if I canceled Internet and restarted in 30 days, they would probably ding me some big fees on those phones, You probably have to send your gateway back for 30 days and could get a "worse" gateway when you sign up again. It wasn't that long ago I heard there was a shortage of gateways. Is one gateway better than the other?

I'll be watching here to see if any existing $50 customers find a solution. Will T-Mo be OK having lots of existing customers cancel for 30 days? Someone mentioned using a different address on the same plan. I'll be interested to hear if that works, and if after you cancel your current Internet if you can switch that gateway back to your address saying that family member decided to move in?

I'm pretty mad at T-Mo for shafting early adopters and loyal customers. Maybe it's time for me to look into Verizon Internet, but that probably requires having a phone line with them.
I signed up about a month ago. Pretty annoyed that they are not allowing existing customers to get on this.

I bought the antenna from Amazon. It was pricey but worth it for us because of the improvement. You can always use it and return if it does not work as well for you.
For reference you can check Amazon for MIMO Panel Antenna Kit by Waveform | +9 dBi Gain | 2x2 600-2700 MHz | for 3G, 4G LTE, 5G Modems, Routers, & Cell Boosters | TS9, SMA, U.FL Adapters (Twin Cable)
Thanks again. Did you have to tear the tmobile modem apart and modify wires, like some folks in the reviews? Or was it just a plug in and play antenna? Any specific reason for the twin cable version vs the other MIMO antenna models?

TIA and repped!

Has anyone tried threatening Xfinity with this? NO other internet has EVER been in my area, but TMobile is saying it is in "limited spots" and to call or chat. I just bought the new iPhone through my Xfinity Mobile plan which I need Xfinity wifi for in order for it to be a good deal. Wondering if I threaten to cancel if they'll lower my internet-only price.

Is it $25 per month for life or 50% off per month for life?

There is a difference.
For the current $50/month plan, they claim they won't raise your price for life. Not sure if it also applies to this $25 promo.

It's portable but you can't take it away from your home base address or you will be charged double because it's considered fixed home internet.

There are few conditions:

The deal is available to all eligible accounts too, not just Magenta MAX. That means existing voice customers on any plan can simply add Home Internet to their account and get it for $25/mo with autopay enabled. There's no strings attached, either, other than the requirement that you must have at least one voice line. Customers without a voice line can add a new voice line to their existing or a new account and will be eligible for the offer.

Love all the comments from people that haven't actually used their HSI. It's been a godsend at our permanent campsite since we got at it's first availability. Usually streaming at least one TV, and multiple mobile devices at once. Rare buffering issues.

Usually with T-Mobile, they tend to improve things over time. First rollout of home internet is probably nowhere the same as it is now and they have the ability to better it over time. The routers can push more data than they are allowed to. Also, location greatly matters. You can have amazing service in some areas, then mediocre in others. It really is something that has to be tested in your area to see.

1. First gen modems had this issue. New generations seem more stable.
2. Supposedly Geo locked, so you can't take it. There are some people who were able to take it to different cities

Had t mobile for 3-4 ish years, orange county CA. Speed is big range, 60-350 . Can't notice until it drops below 90-100

I'll hop on it for $25

You do have to take the modem apart and replace the antenna wires with the ones on the antenna. It is not difficult but if you are not used to doing things like that you could ask a friend. You also have to run the wires to outside the house for best results. The dual antenna has the potential to increase the speed and reliability. There is also a 3 wire model that includes additional frequencies but they are more picky on how they are aimed. I checked the channels used in my towers and based my purchase on those. Most people will benefit from the dual antenna and since you are running the wires anyway it is not a big problem to add the second. If you are not confident running the antenna yourself it may not be worth the price to add these once you end up paying someone.

I did have occasional drops, but it wasn't enough to make me jump ship since Spectrum also has outages (planned and otherwise.) Speeds were great, around 450 down, dropped to 100-200 sometimes during peak hours since cell users get priority, but I can live with that.

What DID make me switch back was when the internet dropped and my phone signal dropped simultaneously. I had no communication with the outside world. In an emergency, I'd be able to call 911 or get in my car and drive somewhere-- that's it. This was not frequent, but it did happen a couple times for 15-20 minutes. Not a good feeling.

Also, the IP is recognised as a wireless/mobile connection, so I was getting a TON more captchas than I see with Spectrum on basic sites I visit all the time. I just couldn't take it anymore. $25 for life is nice, though...
