Great price but most of the reviews state it isnt consistant speeds and has frequent drops.

I wonder if this is portable as long as you have an oulet for power?

I had this from its inception, originally it wasn't too bad-as time went on the signal got worse and buffered like nuts, 3 TV's a pc and phone. I finally gave up after 7 months and terrible to non-existent customer service. The price is definitely tempting, btw, their newer modem was worst than their first, I had a pc fan underneath to cool it down, no difference.

If true it's a no brainer. I have the service. You can expect 100mbs-300mbs. Down time nonexistent.

Using the gateways wifi, when I configure the frequency band to Automatic (recommended) in the gateways settings under network, I get about 100 mbps...if I switch this setting to 5.0 GHz my download speed goes to 200-300 mbps. The problem I am running in to is both my Roku and firetv stick will only connect when the network setting is set to automatic because they require 2.4 GHZ I am guessing.
Any suggestions on this. TIA
Configure the T Mo unit to broadcast the SSDI, one at 2.4GHz, and the other at 5GHz. My unit is set at 2.4GHz, which is plenty fast for WiFi. I use LAN connection for those devices that require high speed and stability.

It's a little different than that, but you're right: The service provider's backbone is a lot more important than the link speed between you and the tower, or you and the SpeedTest app. I have 5G service to my mobile phone, and the SpeedTest reports are insane, like over 500 MBit/sec. But when using the Internet on that link, pages freeze all the time, because TMobile's backbone isn't as good as Comcast's.
I have never experienced internet issue with any ISP if the download speed is north of 5Mbps, upload speed north of 0.5Mbps and static ping time less than 30ms. Problem could be the quality of WiFi transmission from the T Mo unit. Connect using LAN cable to isolate WiFi related issues.

You should see packet loss on the Speedtest under detailed results.

You can't with the new one, 2.4 5 or both. But speeds are much better not using 2.4

I have no separate phone plan. Just watch plan.
can you tell me more about the watch plan? Do you mean a watch plan qualified as a voice line? I only have prepaid phone plan. Just add a $5 watch plan can get the $25 home internet?
Thanks

I recently got this deal. Was getting around 40mbps speeds over wifi, so decided to turn off the wireless radio (w/ a little help from Nate - look him up on youtube) & add on a Linksys mesh system. Speeds are now in the 200mbps range. I turned on 6 tvs at the same time all streaming 4k content & 2 kids on their pc's gaming + a few phones streaming 4k content. Not a single device was buffering. I left all on for a good 2 hrs. Was very consistent. Tried it again at different times of day, same results. No lagging on 2× pcs gaming nor multiple devices streaming 4k content.

Turn off the Tmobile gateway wireless radio and use a good router. Fix my speed issue immediately, literally quadrapuled it. Lookup on youtubebhow to do it. There's a guy named Nate that gives great instructions.

Do we have to use powershell and run a script? Why can't we just change the settings on the T-Mobile Internet app?
Yep, have to run powershell. The option to turn off in gateway settings are not there on the new 5g gateway.

That means you need a computer. No one uses a computer nowadays anymore unless it's for work (or you are an old man). Work blocks the web address needed to access the gateway. Any options to use a phone or tablet?
Go get with your gamer friends...gurantee they are not an old men and have a powerhouse of a pc. Not to mention, most people who are self employed or work for themselves, like me, owns a computer, but I'm not an old man, just a business owner.

Gamers buy a PC to make money by streaming. Everyone buys a PC nowadays to make money. No one uses it solely for entertainment besides oldies. Old farts who can't see the phone or tablet screen still use a PC.
I have several gamer friends, out of the group, only one streams on Twitch once in a while and it's not even for making money. Majority of the gamers I know uses a PC. Two tried laptops for a bit then had to shell out more money for a PC after several months. Reality is PCs aren't exclusive for old farts nor for streaming to make money only. If you "game" on your tablet or cell phone only...you're not a gamer.

I see $50 for signing up but a tmo rep at the store said he could get it for $25 but that the deal with him would expire that day if I didn't sign up. So what exactly do I tell a chat rep if I want this deal? and can that prepaid card be added?

Checked availability and it said Service not available in your area.

I am on Samsung Ultra 5g phone and speed test shows 480/20Mbps speeds.
Phone shows 5G UC.

Service is definitely available in here. It's densely populated, just outside of DC on the Virginia side.

Is it that the tower had reached it's max allowed capacity and that's the reason it says service not available?

Had myself added on notify me when service is available.
Does anyone know how this works and how long would the wait be before they start taking new customers in the area?

Edit:
Retried an address that's exactly 400ft from my house and it says it's available but my address isn't. Wonder why!!!
