It's not as much what you feed them, but how much. I grew up on pop tarts, sugary cereals, all the things they say make you fat. I'll be 40 next year, 5'11" 170-175lbs and I still eat shit like this all the time. It's about self and portion control.

Ate bowls of sugary cereals, pop tarts, cereal milk bars growing up. Even ate toasted sandwiches with jam and butter slices. For savory breakfast dishes, mom would give hot dogs, soy sauce, ketchup, eggs, and fried rice lol. Looking back now,these breakfasts were not healthy much but growing up in the 80s and 90s, didn't question it as long as we ate something before school. My breakfast now a days, isn't much different, still have toasted pb& j sandwiches or sweet bread rolls. But I use pbfit peanut butter powder and no sugar added jam. Sometimes I have a protein brownie mugcake or protein waffles with sugar free syrup. Or even a pint of protein ice cream made with the ninja creami.

I once read a Men's Health article by a nutritionist who used that opportunity to explain why Pop Tarts have no redeeming nutritional purpose, no place in anyone's diet. What's worse, they have almost no detectable flavor or texture. It's like the definition of "bland." Uniform chalkiness meant to appeal to the least offensive common denominator of American taste. I can see buying a couple just to stick a middle finger at society, but 64? At some point one's life choices must be evaluated.
