To those of you claiming you can use an IMEI generator -- I'm currently attempting to port to a REAL unlocked note 9 and it's hell because xfinity thinks it's locked, port wont go through. Can anyone confirm that they've REALLY done this with generated IMEIs? If not, what's the cheapest unlocked burner phone that can be had quickly to do this deal?

I ordered in September and I was told I was disqualified because I switched my phone before 90 days, even if this is BYOD you still have to remain on the same phone on the same line for 90 days.
First time I hear of this testimony. I've switched before without issues getting the gcs

So I never need to put them in the phones themselves?

That's correct. If/When you need to port out/cancel, just insert the SIM to get the PIN.

Is their SIM associated to IMEI and you cannot use that SIM on other phones? I think we can use the SIM in any unlocked phone, if that is the case why they care so much about IMEI?

I know I was surprised the Xfinity chat said there is nothing they can do, it's all system-generated automatically. They can not do any manual adjustments. I guess I just switched for nothing.

Warning. If you already got previous promotion gift card, you cannot use the same IMEI for the next promotion. I ended up only getting $800 out of $1600 because they said I used the same IMEI on previous promotion. Any way to fight it? I thought promotion reset every quarter.

I just did this deal and got a gift card 3 months ago. Can I do this again? I don't see anything in the fine print.
hexx29, yes, you can use the promotion again. Remember to port different phone numbers and different phones (not used before) with different IMEI numbers.

I was a huge proponent of this service at one time. The coverage is excellent and the price is low. However, their customer service is so poor that I absolutely would not recommend it to anyone. I spent at least 8 hours on the phone with them when I tried to simply move a line to another account. Instead of transferring, they disconnected the line and I lost access to it. You have been warned.
I agree 100%. Have been with them since they launched. Love the service, price, phone selection and promos, etc..as long as things are smooth it's fine but as soon as you need to reach for outside help from their customer care, it's torture.

I worked for RadioShack when it went cellphone crazy. We sold Sprint,Verizon and AT&T later adding Tmobile. Most of us had free employee lines from at least 2 of the carriers. I learned a few tricks of the industry, like for any call you initially get to the outsourced call center who are 0% interested in "customer satisfaction" or resolving your "problem"...but if you call and press 0 then at the last menu (might be one of the first menus now) it will say "to disconnect your service press (number)"..go ahead and press that option because then you will get to a retention specialist in the states who will try to do anything (within reasonability) to not lose a customer. Including resolving your issue. Sometimes there's a wait yes, but these people are quick and efficient and have the most "power" or flexibility as far as credits, deals, rebates and offers go.

They keep that imei information for life, I didn't use their service over a year and they use the same reason to reject the rebate.
