01. Hold ESC-Refresh -- tap Power to boot to ChromeOS in Recovery Mode --
Press CTRL-D to enter Developer Mode and disable verification --- allow ChromeOS wipe ~5mins
02. Login to ChromeOS via google credz and establish WIFI connectivity with ur router. - shutdown Chromebook -- disconnect Power
03.Take apart bottom half and disconnect Battery - leave off and reconnect Power cable only to Chromebook-- boot into ChromeOS (This will disable "Write Protect" mode)
04.Launch Chrome Browser then press Ctrl-ALT-T to launch a Terminal
05. Type "Shell" to enter shell mode and paste the MrChromebox.tech script in there:
cd; curl -LO mrchromebox.tech/firmware-util.sh; sudo install -Dt /usr/local/bin -m 755 firmware-util.sh; sudo firmware-util.sh
06. select Option to install Full UEFI Firmware -- run through the prompts (because i can't remember them all) -- let it do its thing and reboot -- and you should get a coreboot "bunny" logo BIOS
07. Install Windows/Linux as any other x86 PC - through bootable ThumbDrive. - may need to find a Win11 TPM bypass method (with rufus)
08. shutdown and reinstall battery as before and your done.
Only things I dislike (but cannot complain about at the price) wifi chip is horrible. Reception is fine inside the house but as soon as I go into my backyard it refuses to connect. I can walk 3 houses down on my phone and other devices. Again can't complain for the price...
The trackpad feels a bit sensitive, could be a lot better, but not too big an issue.

And SD cards not working in windows would be a big deal for me. So I'll see how a Linux distro will work. But I saw a comment that sound is not working in Linux 😵 💫

Gonna go back to ChromeOS. Maybe consider trying legacy bios and dualboot just to have non-sandboxed Linux available
Hope that answers burning questions on "buying to install windows or Linux" with little effort
Edit: nevermind I didn't see kbl_cros_drivers_1.0 which works for the speakers so I'm happy. And maybe I'll dig into this at some point for Linux: https://github.com/GalliumOS/gall...issues/536
Edit 2: also I can't get the keyboard backlight to work but that's not a big deal (screen backlight and its keyboard shortcuts works fine with the keyboard remapper). Also Chromebooks have an offer for 1 year of 100GB Google One storage, 3 months of GeForce Now, and some others that I should have redeemed before formatting: https://www.google.com/chromebook/perks/
Edit 3: nevermind, had to install croskblight 1.0.1 and reinstall chromebookremap 1.0.4 for the keyboard backlight to work

The other one i tested with earlier was probably a bad card (i just randomly picked one up on my desk)
But SD Card shows up just fine under "My Computer" and "Disk Management "

Quality wise I was almost fooled that the top isn't plastic. Keyboard is better than expected. Trackpad is fine. Screen is pretty nice and vibrant, I don't know why some people are complaining about it.

Also never had a touchscreen laptop but i read some people say they hate touchscreen because it makes the screen smudge more? Is that truth or false? But is the $90+ price difference just the touch screen vs non touch screen? That seem to be a huge price difference if everything else is the same?
Anyone know how long this deal will last?

Is there any reason against this if you want to use it as a chromebook or as a linux machine? Seems to be a much better deal since the screen is ips compared to TN screens? But the processor is slower than i3 processor from the 250 and 300 dollars windows laptops right?
