Does this need to be activated/registered online before use? Are there real-time manufacturer-imposed restrictions on its flight? Looking to buy one and I remember reading about the Mini 2 needing permission from the cloud (no pun intended). If so, any other quadcopters recommended? Thanks

$67 less than the Costco deal, but I'd rather have the non-screen remote since it has much better range (antennas are in the phone holder).

Just not seeing the exact combo I want; non-screen remote with the extended battery.

To wait 2 more months to see if anything better comes along, or just get one of these deals? Currently droneless, so there's only so much longer I'm willing to wait.

No, the Mini 3 will not prevent you from making bad decisions and letting your dumb friends fly it. That ones on you.
