Exactly how does it switch between the mop and vacuum cycle? Does the owner have to put on a mat on the bottom that then needs to be removed and cleaned separately?

The mop pad lifts up and down and releases water w/ solution as needed. Mop can also be removed. I recommend watching a few good YouTube videos that demonstrate and test. Also, definitely recommend the "Roborock Empty Wash Fill Dock". The dock is amazing and can add drying module. Combined and you have the current best all around robot vacuum and mop experience for most people's uses.

Black Friday deal for this model was $640. I don't see any history of a better deal than this. Am I missing something? Any risk other than that it's ebay?

The only negative i see for this deal is the included 2-year extended warranty. It's from a company called CPS. From a quick Google search, they seem to have a lot of bad reviews. Other than that, the vacuum alone for this price is a good deal.

thats just the extended warranty, buydig is an authorized dealer so you get the roborock warranty either way

I have the standard S7, but I am guessing this functions the same. The mop pad attaches to a plastic mop pad base which clicks into the vacuum. The vacuum knows when the mop base is attached and will mop the floor automatically. It will also vacuum while it mops.

For the standard S7, they recommend pausing the vacuum every hour or so to clean off the mop pad to ensure it doesn't get too dirty.

Too bad the ultra dock is $600 more, which would put the combination of the two units about $100 more than the BF combo special. Great deal if you just want the vacuum though. But it seems the dock is needed to get the full benefit out of this vacuum.

Weird it's only for the vacuum not even a basic dock. I have to say this thing runs circles around my roomba though and it's amazing at cleaning (probably best for hard floors not so much carpet) and it's fast as it doesn't waste time randomly bouncing around it maps your whole house and sets a cleaning pattern.

It should come with a small dock that only does the charging.

What dock does this come with? Any advantage over the standard S7 which I already have? I see the scrubbing is the same, but aside from better object detection, is the sucking power and/or batter better, maybe bigger dustbin?

Think cleaning is about the same, differences are a camera for object identification so it navigates better and recognizes where it is and the big dock can wash the pad on the back.
