Do most people go the expensive soundbar/subwoofer route because they do not have the room to setup an A/V receiver with speakers?

We have a small space and I do have a 5.1 setup but will probably remove it when we re-do our living room. I realize the sound quality of a soundbar with a sub-woofer will not be nearly as good, but I'm guessing it would be good enough. Unfortunately we do not have ability to add rear speakers as there isn't a good spot with a power outlet.

I have 2 sets of the original 300 soundbar (the new smart 300 soundbar is total crap btw) with sub and surround still going strong after 4 years, bought refurbished from Bose eBay store came looking brand new in white boxes. One caveat though, if you have a mesh router (I have TP link) near the soundbar it messes with the signal to the surround speakers. This is a good deal for the 900 though, very tempting…

I bought the deal from adorama last month that came with the 900, 700 sub and rear satellite speakers. My space doesn't allow for a traditional a/v reciever so this works great. I came from a Vizio 5.1.4. and this is a night and day difference. The setup can be maxed out with a second 700 bass module so I opted to do that but I do feel it's overkill as I keep the setting for bass at -30. If you run adaptiq on this and decide to add more components to it, run adaptiq again to calibrate the additional for the best adaptiq sound.

Did bose finally fix the issue with the soundbar not playing any sound after turning the TV back on? I had to return mine because it was a constant issue. Only way to fix it was to unplug it from the power outlet.
