If you are an existing FIOS customer, without Verizon Wireless (cell) service, give this a try.
Check http://verizon.com/specials to see what is currently offered in your area (make sure the zip code is correct).
Try ordering it, but most likely it won't give you that price when you get to the options to order.
If the offer is less than you're paying now, chat with a rep, mention that you see the offer but it won't let you order it.
They will say it is not applicable to your account.
At this point you can try asking to speak to a supervisor, that isn't the path I took though, they offered it later in the chat.
If your area also has a competitor like Xfinity, mention that they are offering 400 meg for $29.99 per month (or whatever offer is in your area). Not sure if this helped my case or not but can't hurt if you have a similar offer.
They probably still say they can't do anything.
Ask them to schedule cancel of your service on the last day of your billing cycle (if your billing cycle ends in a few days, don't risk that, either wait a few days to try this or tell them to cancel at the end of your next billing cycle a month out since it will take you a while to get the new competitor service installed).
In my case they then offered for me to talk to a supervisor. I restated the case to them, and they applied $10 discount to match the offer on my current plan. Got an email, accepted the offer, and was good to go.
No 10 year price lock included in my deal (no router either but I don't need that). The 10 year price lock says only for customers who have not been active in 180 days. So if you really want that 10 year lock, you probably have to cancel and sign up again under a new name (there is a specific process to follow when doing this, make sure you schedule the cancellation on the last day of your billing cycle and the new service to start on the day after that, and you will have some downtime).

If you are a new user, I posted in this thread on how to go about that one too (however it seems several have been able to get the $29.99 deal as a new user without even chatting).
300/300 is more than enough for a big family, much less 2 people. Unless you're doing a ton of torrenting and file sharing, even then it is still a lot. They trick you into buying gig when 99% of people don't need it and see little benefit from it especially on wifi.
I'd rather have the additional upload speed on Verizon than gigabit down and 25 meg up or whatever comcast gives. Plus FIOS speeds are consistent from my experience, and don't vary based on your neighbors (they could, as it is shared, but they have much more capacity than cable).
If you really want gig you can get 1G down AND up for $70 from Verizon, and it includes a router and wifi extender, 2TB cloud storage, 10 year price lock, etc etc.
Well, now I'll go with $25 T-Mobile and they go suck sand.
