Terrible idea to use auto coolant for this, it's toxic AF. Walmart+ has free shipping on the RV potable water antifreeze, $4 per gallon.

Yes! The new formulation of Peak and Prestone can be used in ANY car, and far superior protection of buildup and corrosion to the old ones made just for Asian cars. Just be sure that you purchase the container that reads "All Vehicles".

Have a *close* look at the antifreeze from your manufacturer (Toyota, Honda, Renault, etc.) There will be a note that it meets XYZ specification. Write it down, and then look at what specification Prestone, or other antifreeze, meets. You're right to be concerned since it really does matter with some cars; who needs to save $25 on antifreeze, then spend $1k on repair due to wrong antifreeze. BTW, if color of antifreeze is "wrong" -and that concerns you- a few drops of food color will fix it.

Certain car manufacturers used to have their own formulation which they claimed were best for their vehicles. Now there are more advanced formulations out there which are far superior at prohibiting the buildup of scale and rust which cause damage to the radiator and other other critical areas of the cooling system. The new formulations by Prestone and Peak have been proven superior to the old formulations by car manufacturers, so they can and should be used. And these new formulations by Prestone and Peak do not void the manufacturer warranty.

Important... Make sure that the container you purchase has the words "All Vehicles" on the front of it, as there are still older containers floating around that do not contain the same protection against corrosion.

I am getting ready to do a complete coolant change on a Honda and Nissan. Both use blue coolant. Buying 4 gallons from each dealer is very expensive but Asian blue is available that is compatible with both vehicles from Napa.

I would not risk putting a universal coolant in ANY vehicle to save a few bucks.
