This is the AMD variant which means it's likely got the Mediatek WiFi chip. There are new drivers that supposedly improve performance, but I bought an AX201 chip from Intel and it works way better.
The other piece is there's a critical BIOS update that may need to be applied that resolves random stutters that the laptop has. Apparently, it only impacted AMD-based chipsets but after I applied the update from November from Lenovo directly performance is as expected.
Overall, very happy with the product.

I'm mainly looking for a 3D rendering machine I can carry around, so the Ryzen may win out because of the better multi core scores.

But will new tech early next year drop prices more?

PS - 13th Generation is just around the corner.
On the other hand, the Ryzen typically has better battery life, and supposedly better performance when on battery.
I purchased this model in 32gb/2tb from Lenovo a month ago. It would seem perfect for my use case. The 12700h version went on sale a week later, so I started researching and bought it as well to directly compare on my own.
In general, they feel about the same. I don't notice 10-30 seconds difference in processing something that takes 5 minutes anyway. The 12700h has been rock solid. The 6900hx, though, has randomly rebooted 2-3 times (I manually check for updates daily and reboot after). It's also dropped all of my Bluetooth devices out a few times, requiring a reboot(not just cycling bluetooth off/on). It's frustrating when I'm working on multiple things and have to suddenly switch to the laptop keyboard and trackpad, or have to save everything often in the event of a crash. I wish it weren't this way. It would likely be my choice, just due to the potential battery life. I have zero patience for issues with a brand new product at this point in my life, so I'll be keeping the 12700h.

Highlighted in bold are the ones I got, while the ones on the left are the "better" ones.
What I do like about the AMD CPUs (have always had Intel gaming laptops) is it draws little power, less heat. I can put it in quiet mode and its dang quiet I also tweaked it to disable boost when not on gaming mode. And if you want even more battery life/office work then you just have it run at 60Hz (vs. 165Hz).
SSD: Samsung > [SK Hynix Gold] | WD Black > WD Green
RAM: 32GB Dual Ranks > [32GB Single Ranks]
WIFI/BT: [Intel] >>> MediaTek/RealTek
DISPLAY: [CSOT T3 MNG007DA 1-8] > CSOT T3 MNG007DA 1-6
GPU: XXXX GPU [Samsung] > Micron Memory
At least with the 5 Pro series I think there's a lottery with some of the peripherals while the 7 series tend to have the better ones without having to swap. Maybe that's why I have better BT as I replaced the the MediaTek Wifi/BT for the Intel AX210 Wifi/BT ($20~). The RAM you can get a little boost by going dual ranks with they Hyper X Fury DR but I've been good with the stock ones.
