No, I just bought a PS5 and just upgrade a bunch of my disc PS4 games. You just insert the disc into the PS5 and select upgrade from the game store. You will still always need the disc in to play.
Edit: Done, $24.97 before tax for the PS4 version (for PS5 upgrade for me). Slick!
Tip: Only buy digital when you know you love a game...dont take other "reviewers" words for it
For reference, PS5 version was $35 during Black Friday weekend

You're getting some negative votes, but I feel you. I really tried to enjoy the first game but just never felt any particular way towards it, positive or negative. Then came the close quarters combat with human enemies and those parts played very poorly. Enemy designs were cool and the world's engrossing, but Aloy's just kind of…boring.
Wow. You described how I've felt about the original (and this really too). I just couldn't connect with Aloy so I couldn't get into the game. We may be the minority here, but it's ok to have differing opinions than the mass. 🙂
