Ya it's only good for herbs and lettuce. Bought one and returned it. The very bright light needs to be on 10 hours a day or so. It attracts a lot of bugs to it. And the amount of "Produce" you get doesn't justify the cost. It also tastes different than from my outdoor garden - uses water and miracle grow liquid

Guys.. anything that grows well in light and water will grow in this. Meaning pretty much any plant. The limitation is the height of the light and the size of your roots. That's when you need to bring the plants outside to continue growing. I think I've sprouted every avocado seed from my Costco avocados and now my garden is full of avocado plants. Whether or not i can bring them to fruit in a decade outside is another story lol

i actually take out the water tank part and just use my own tray filled with water and pots within that tray.

If you want to use all three spots, herbs are the best bet. However, you can grow just about anything. If you wanted to grow something larger, like a tomato plant, I would suggest only using 1 spot. I have several Aerogardens, and grow toms in a 6 spot model. Even with that, 2 tom plants is about the limit. This size is great to get started with Aerogarden, or if you do not have a lot of room.
