I just got this from Costco couple weeks ago. It's got everything, from lighted keys, to being able to hook up to my phone to load midi, connect to external speaker, microphone, comes with cable and stand, it's still on sale at Costco https://www.costco.com/yamaha-ez3...30411.html

I just showed it to my music teacher partner with the Masters in music. she says it's crap. it doesn't have enough features for the price.

you can get things that have more features, as well as more instrumentation sounds, as well as more teaching features.

Seems like an okay deal. I appreciate that over its Casio Counterpart (CT-S1) the yamaha has a quarter inch output to plug to an amp.. as where the CT-S1 only has an Aux output. Anyone know how the keybed feels?

thene, you want weighted keys, and the list keeps going... when starting out, the most important thing is motivation, and having a structure to learn. A good insturment is only half the journey.

This is what I'm aiming to get my son for xmas. He's 8 and we have no idea if it'll hold his interest at all. I've read all the reviews that say you need 88 key, weighted, touch sensitive, higher polyphony, etc else it's junk but spending $500+ for an 8 year old to "try it" isn't the wisest use of money.

This one has a teaching mode, lots of different voices and a lot of nifty features that he can have fun with.

If he really enjoys it and starts to commit, frankly there's enough full pianos going free or dirt cheap on facebook marketplace that I can get something more long term. Just not going to waste the space unless he's interested.
