High toners cost kills the deal as it's recurring cost vs this one time saving of printer.

Will wait for another printer deal with low per print cost.

Was at my local store earlier and they also had the m283fdw on sale for the same price. This is the model sold at the non-warehouse club stores. Would I have any luck price matching at Best Buy?

There is no downgrade firmware for this model available. You will end up paying $250 or more for the HP toner, which cost 4-6 times higher than genetic toner.
