Be aware that this is a Dual Rank Memory and Ryzen CPU can't handle 4 sticks with dual rank, not sure about Intel

I too was on the lookout for discount ddr4 ram this holiday season. only needed 16gb, but hey at $45/16gb i dont think it makes a difference having one stick vs 2

Depends on your platform but in most cases yes. Running single channel vs dual is a performance hit. Why can't you run both sticks?

I can, but for most use cases theres not a need to go beyond 16gb of ram

Can someone tell me if this ram is compatible with my pc? Intel core i5-7400, nvdia gtx 1060 3gb. 2 stick x sk hynix 4gb ram ddr4. My pc is old and I don't really game. I have alot of browser tabs and it starts to lag so bad. Can I just use 1 stick 16gb ram?

You'd likely benefit more from a fresh install of Windows (if that's the OS you're using) rather than adding more RAM. In my experience, a Windows machine in daily use needs a fresh install of Windows every 15 months or so - zero cost too.

EDIT: Ah just saw you're running 4 GB of RAM. Save some money and buy an 8GB kit or 16GB kit - 32 is overkill. I'd still first try a fresh install of Windows 10 though and see if that improves performance.

def jump on this if you're thinking about going from 2 to 4 dimms of ballistix. It's going to be impossible to find in another month or two. If you don't have ballistix already, I'd stay away just because it's going to be hard to find matches for if you ever want to get more in the future & there are other 3600 16-18-38 (or faster) options out there for only marginally more $.

I got this to complement my 2x16gb of the 3600 variant... I can't find the 3600 anymore Frown.

This 3200mhz version plays nice & is stable with my 3600mhz ballistix, up to 3466mhz @ 16-18-38. My system just won't boot beyond that - my 3600 could also be the problem at that speed, as I was never able to get it 100% stable at 3600mhz.
