To get it cheaper (YMMV):
Chase has 5% back on dell

better yet: use paypal deals for 4% cash back + chase freedom paypal 5%cash-back category

even better: use up dell reward & egift cards from previous deals & use Chase 5% back on dell

I got it for $12.08 after taxes

BIG TIP: Not sure if this consider a cheat or hack. By the time I got to this this, it said it's OOS as well, but if you hit the check mark next to "compare" and click on it. This will bring you to the comparison page. Scrolling down and lo and hehold, there is a mysterious green "Add to Cart" button pop up and let you buy this. screenshot [imgur.com]

A laptop that can consume an NVME drive is not so 'old'

Slick. Just bagged 2 to replace the one from Amazon I just put into my brand new rig (yes I know it's not a Gen4 drive) and one to use in an external enclosure as a super fast backup/portable drive.
Got 5% back from Chase on my Prime card and another 2% back from urlhasbeenblocked (that cash back site that sounds like Racoonin')

Among the low-end drives, the Samsung SSD 980 is clearly slower than the WD Blue SN550, and less power efficient. Samsung's NVMe drives are all among the most power-hungry during this test, and the SSD 980 doesn't deliver anywhere near as much performance with that power as its high-end siblings.

Just FYI

It'll "work". But in theory you will want something faster for the long run.

How is the performance of this 980 to the Crucial P5 PCIe gen 3?

I've been trying to find a name brand 1TB NVMe for the last month to go in my ACASIS usb hub. Almost pulled the trigger on a $78 crucial... My procrastination finally paid off!

Does the super easy SSD clone/setup software work on this? I forget what it was but think Samsung has the easiest setup/cloning of an old HD to a new SSD right?
