BIG TIP: Not sure if this consider a cheat or hack. By the time I got to this this, it said it's OOS as well, but if you hit the check mark next to "compare" and click on it. This will bring you to the comparison page. Scrolling down and lo and hehold, there is a mysterious green "Add to Cart" button pop up and let you buy this. screenshot[imgur.com]
Would it make sense to get this and do a fresh Windows install on this instead of my existing 970 EVO? Also, thinking I would move this one to primary M.2 slot (the direct one?) instead of the 970 EVO?
Just trying to avoid a back up and format here since I'm due a fresh windows install haha
Review here[anandtech.com]. 970 EVO will be faster for many tasks.
This is only $40 though.
Speed checked out using PayPal the minute I saw it here about 45 mins ago. Didn't think it would last. Didn't need it but could definitely use it. Great deal thanks OP
They really did it on purpose. Then the customer service representative told me I could just order at the $89.99 price if I want the product. I think I hate Best Buy lol.

It looks like if you have the product in your Dell cart it will let you check out, I just got an order confirmation!

It matters because no dram means it'll eat up your actual ram to compensate for the lack of speed and potentially make your pc slower.
I think you are unaware that the 980 is probably the best of the DRAM-less SSDs and so this is just not true. Unlike the cheaper drives, the Samsung has a large SLC cache. Then, drive only uses 64MB of system DRAM for the FTL mapping tables. (if that amount of usage is problem for your system--then you've got bigger problems). The 980 tends to perform better than many of the cheaper/older gen drives even with DRAM. You will need to go to PCIe 4.0 drives to get one substantially better than this one.
I get why people like to say, "no DRAM = bad" since its true most of the time. But there are exceptions and this is one of them.
I'm wishing I had spent more for a B550 board so I had an extra slot, I just got a B450 board, though can't complain, it was $70, lol.
PCIe slots are your friend on B450. M.2 to PCIe x4 adapters are around $15. Given how good this deal is, you can snag this drive, and a M.2 to PCIe adapter for less than you would typically pay for the drive. Happy deal hunting.

Please, does anyone know how I can use this in MacBook Pro 2014?
It should work* if you get an Apple NGFF adapter (should be less than $5 from your favorite Chinese site).
* 980 listed in here[macrumors.com] for some light reading on the topic. Be aware this thread has a lot of out-of-date information. You don't need a special adapter these days, any generic should work.

To get it cheaper (YMMV):
Chase has 5% back on dell
better yet: use paypal deals for 4% cash back + chase freedom paypal 5%cash-back category
even better: use up dell reward & egift cards from previous deals & use Chase 5% back on dell
I got it for $12.08 after taxes
