The trade-off is just the age-old android vs apple argument, in exchange for plug-and-play polish it is very difficult, if at all possible, to sideload apps, make UI and system tweaks, or do anything Apple doesn't explicitly intend to do. So very much depends on what you want to use it for.

I've found there's not much need for this for my usage. I don't use PLEX or anything like that and have just upgraded to the A80K which has everything I want built in
Edit: You all can stop trying to low ball me in my DMs now. It is sold

KODI. Iptv. Syncler.
It is a plex server with transcoding capabilities.
Google play store with infinite apps vs apple store with a very walled garden.

Why give Nvidia your money for outdated tech? Deprogram yourself, and buy based on specs not on brand loyalty.

I also have been dabbling in with Raspberry pi 4 and Konstakang Android development. I can make that pi 4 into a current os android, 2 HDMI 4USB ports, ethernet and wifi. I have 256gb Micro SD in there and I never have to worry about running out. For the most part it is stable.
ETA Prime and Explaining Computers (You Tube) has been showcasing Some beefy PI sized devices that have more (emc,NVME, as well as Micro sd) faster storage options and are all modern processors. Most are far cheaper than this.
For the reasons I find most important , I would opt for a cube because of its RAM. For the reasons most want the shield, I come down on the side that it is to old, and would explore other android options.
When these first came out I was really excited, but I could not justify the price, I still can't. At $100 I might want to look at the idea again, but the $175 has been the lowest price for years.
I am not including apple in my thinking because I am not a apple person. I don't like the eco system. I feel for the most part the prices of Apple products are not price competitive and there is a certain amount of snob appeal not to mention the Locked OS..
