You just need to have access to the Ultimate Rewards portal. So, CSR or CSP will work.

Does it even make sense to transfer instead of using Chase travel center?

Hyatt transfers will still be the better value. Marriott is way overpriced with its point system these days. Worst value going.

Overall, I would tend to agree with you due to marriots "dynamic pricing" bs, however there are still some deals to be found if you look and are flexible enough, and there is no current bonus to transfer to hyatt...

I think flex gives you access?

Yeah I only transfer to Hyatt with my UR points. Hyatt is the best value to transfer UR points.

This would downgrade your points though.... right?

CSR is 1.5 to 1, Bonvoy is .33 to 1. Like it takes 3 Bonvoy points to equal $1.

Back when it was SPG it was 1:1 at least, but I can't possibly see how 40% more would make this a decent deal.

Every now and then there's a decent bonvoy hotel for under normal points price but ugh... I would only transfer if you had a hotel ready to book that was in your favor.

Only worth it if you can find a hotel stay with great enough value, which doesn't happen much with Marriott. I agree that Hyatt is still the better value in general, but like any use of points it's very YMMV. Personally I wouldn't waste transferring unless after the 40% bonus you get at least 2cpp value compared to final cash price and there are no Hyatt comps (or any better value hotel) in the area that would be a better choice.

Valuing hotel points is..... difficult to say the least. I'm very familiar with Marriott, and the $/pt issue is that it really depends on specific hotels. I've been to expensive hotels that are practically cat1, so VERY expensive $$ but VERY cheap on points; these tend to be more business hotels.

Most recently I booked a hotel in San Juan that's $400+/night but just 40k pts a night, $0.01 or so/pt.

But yeah it varies a LOT.

Anyway another thing to consider is how available usage will be; Hyatt has just ~1200 properties and Marriott 8500, and is the largest hotel chain by rooms. Going to generally be a lot easier to find multiple Marriott options in any given location than Hyatt.

Yes, but it doesn't have the option to transfer to partners. Therefore you need CSR, CSP, or ink preferred.

I signed up for CHASE card over time and now ended up with three FREEDOM cards, all with same points system, none that allows to transfer points to Airline or Hotel. I want to convert one of my cards to some other that gives me that flexibility, wondering which one is good? suggestions?

It has never ever made sense to use the Chase portal. You are aware the Chase portal is just another shitty OTA, right? The only good deals with UR was to transfer to partner for good redemption, or use CSR cashout at 1.5x

People stupid enough to use a credit card issuer's portal are the same people that book through OTAs and deserve exactly what they get.
