There are cheaper options for refurbs or crappier brands but this is a good price for Seagate ironwolf drives if you need that much storage.

After buying the Seagate "RECERTIFIED" 18TB hard drive at $189.99 each delivered, I'm spoiled.

If it's not $10 or so per terabyte, I won't bite (buy).

Those are recertified and the SMART has been wiped/reset. So for all you know it may show low hours, but really have 10,000 hours on them.

Hence only 2 year warranty vs 5 year warranty with new drives.

It's certainly not for everyone. But, it cannot be 30,000 hours, either. The model X18 only became available in 2021. My drive was refurbished in August 2022. The worst is one year and half, about 13,000 hours.

As for warranty, most of my hard drives bought brand new don't have warranty anymore. I'm not going to throw them away. I just make sure to have double copies of files.

Have you heard 10 years warranty? I have a SSD that has 10 years warranty. It has 2 years left. Warranty will expire, even the 10 years warranty. Life goes on.

Exact hours i don't know. but I was pointing out that you posting a picture with 22 hours is painting a picture that is just as incorrect. I see other hard drives on ebay that the manufactured date is 4-6 years ago also claiming low hours. Many aren't realizing those SMART data is being reset/wiped.

You don't get to reset a car odometer to 0 because you recertified/"remanufactured" the car do you?
