For those interested, the 5g version is on sale for $199: https://www.motorola.com/us/smart...?skuId=619 This version has double the memory, 256gb instead of 128 and expandable to 1 tb instead of 512 gb (non 5g version). Also has a larger battery 5000 mah instead of the 4000 mah. 6 gb of RAM vs 4 gb with non 5g. If you have a trade, makes it $159 - well worth the extra $30 from the non 5g version. Also 5g version comes with Android 11, while the non 5g has Android 10. Hope this helps.

Google and Samsung killed external storage because there was a brief period where there was a security exploit.

They continued it because it's cheaper to leave out the slot, but more importantly, because people were throwing in cheap SD cards and then complaining about slow performance.

Android still supports external storage via USB-C, network mounted directories, and SD slots where available.

First post on here, going to bed now, hopefully I don't wake up to a ton of "you did it wrong" comments.
Seems to be a cheap price, especially compared to phones at the same price with 32GB. Tempted to get it as a gift.

Where are you getting $30? The trade in list is pretty specific to more recent, better phones. The iphone X is $110. The phones cannot have any issues at all.

Did the budget Moto thing for years until I took the advice of those who say to purchase a new flagship that's a few years old. There really is a huge difference. I'm still using the S9+ that I picked up on clearance at Walmart for $200.00 and just grabbed an open box One+9 at Bestbuy for $188.00. My last Motos were a 2020 Moto Power and a Moto One 5G Ace which I sold pretty quick.

Bought Moto Stylus both ways. You're right about some bloatware with TracFone, but not too bad IMO. Also, I was with StraightTalk and I didn't even have to unlock, just put my ST SIM card in. Unlocking involved jumping through some hoops but there are good instructions on previous SD posts for TF Moto phones.

She prefers it on vibrate anyway so size doesn't matter.

Not a good advice. I would go with a lower end (slower phone) with latest OS and security updates instead of a phone with great specs and outdated software.

Keep in mind that Google and Samsung devices no longer have expandable memory, whatever that is worth to you.
Google never had a phone with memory card slot. It's a scam by the phone companies to sell cloud storage. The same reason they took away the fm radio to sell Spotify Pandora, removed the headphone jack to sell the true wireless earbuds etc. I just switched to all these bullshit hey if I have less options on my phone and you all are going to imitate apple's tactics I better atleast use iOS device. Honestly I didn't like it in the beginning but overall seems iOS does very well. Like android auto will refuse to act doesn't matter what phone it was, like they won't connect when I needed it but will connect later fine. Never had an issue with my iPhone apple car play works 100 percent of the time. Also you can open maps on your phone and search something while connected to carplay but you can't load up maps when you are connected to Android auto!!

What do you use for network mounted shares? The Google samba app stopped being developed, I thought. I've been using X-plorer and Solid Explorer. I miss Es-Explorer... That was the best/fastest for me.

Garbage. My wife got one for Black Friday and it was just returned. Turns out the data cuts off and basically the phone becomes useless. Google the phone and "call drop" and read the Lenovo forums.
