Been searching for a gaming laptop around $800-1200 range. How is this one?

Seems like a good deal to me. Specs wise it seems good for Rust game.
I would say its a bit more than entry way gaming with 6GB NVidia card. I might go for it...
I am not sure about the quality though. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

250-nits screen seems bad. Not saying I have to use the native screen but it's still too shabby.

Just ordered, this is a great deal. Screen brightness doesn't matter to me since most of my use will be hooked to a thunderbolt dock outputting to external monitors. My previous laptop (not a gaming laptop though) was Acer and is still going strong 7+ years after purchase.

A friend of mine purchased 2 of these recently and had to return both. A CPU issue and then a bad fan (all within the first 2 days of owning the computers)

The specs for the price were awesome, but quality control seems to be lacking. He ended up paying a bit more and upgrading to another model after the second return.

Also- he mentioned if you can find non-sponsored honest reviews you'll find a plague of other issues with this device.

Rust is actually the main game I play on console. Would I be able to run rust on a 1440p monitor with decent frames? I was also thinking about upgrading the ram to 32gb.

Does the MSI KATANA have a better screen?

https://www.costco.com/msi-katana...48090.html

I saw a 17 inch one for about $990

https://slickdeals.net/f/16215943-msi-katana-laptop-i7-12700h-17-3-144hz-rtx-3060-16gb-ddr4-512gb-ssd-990-free-shipping?src=SiteSearch

Now I need to figure out how to get the slickdeal cash back

Thank you

honestly it's decentish but the screen is horrible, for 250 dollars more you could get the g15 AE strix... It's truly a premium experience. I went crazy and ordered 4 laptops and am benchmarking all of them against each other... Idk if I won the silicone lottery and panel lottery or what, but the Strix ae is just stomping everything, even the 3080 I got.

I'm super sensitive visually and have eagle eyes and am really sensitive to color accuracy and light bloom but def as a bat and don't care about noise, running it at 90% fan, all wattages on cpu and GPU maxed out and it's just destroying everything.

Do all gaming laptops like this with a 3060 or better use a bigger watt laptop charger?
