This was a good deal when it came with a 128GB SSD, this has a 256GB SSD. In my opinion, the SP7+ was the ultimate form factor for the Surface Pro. It had the 11th Gen CPU from the SP8, and the easily replaceable SSD, but it was still made of magnesium. The SP8 and SP9 went to aluminum, and they are over five ounces heavier than the previous versions. Five ounces might not sound like much, but the extra weight makes the newer version too heavy to use as a tablet.

I5 with 8GB and a 256 SSD is probably only going to be good for basic streaming, web surfing, etc.

That's okay. Building a desktop now. Literally just sold my first gen surface laptop 1 for 250 in a Starbucks down the street. It got me 3 degrees, and has been the best laptop I've ever had.

Debating between this or a open box SL4 w ryzen 7 8gb 256gb at BB for 500.

If you like the Surface Pro form factor, you'll like this device. Don't listen to the people that tell you that it's only good for streaming/surfing, you can get a lot done on this device, it replaced my laptop.

Every time I get a tablet I wind up not using it. I just bought a 15" SL4, black for 475 at BB with the Ryzen 7, 8/256.

I have the 16gb version of this and it's fantastic. No fan. For normal tasks this is great. If you're editing video or something it's not for you. But for most people it's fantastic

Yes. I agree. I think we as a PC community need to stop assuming that everyone will be editing 4k movies with their laptops. Most people just do normal people things on their laptops. Write papers, Amazon shopping, the occasional movie, check emails, and maybe prepare some files for 3d printing. I loved my surface laptop 1, and had it for 5 years. Best computer I've ever owned, just needed something a little "faster" then the 7660u.

After trying for a year (and as much as I love the screen) my hopes of the Lenovo Duet 5 fulfilling my requirements have been dashed - it just ain't cutting it for anything quasi work related (glitchy and can't even successfully Zoom/Teams without hanging).

I just started searching for the right Surface Pro, and this seems to be the ticket - the Surface Pro 7+ with 8GB and 256GB SSD. I was wondering if anyone been watching the pricing on these? Any chance Best Buy returns it to this ~$650 price level or was that a holiday unicorn? I'd rather not buy the 128GB SSD from antonline/eBay currently available. Thanks in advance.
