I tried playing "Trekking the National Parks" with some non-gamers (between ages 8 and 68) and they had trouble following/remembering some of the more complex rules, so I simplified it to a mix of "Sorry" and "Hi-Ho Cherry-o" where you're racing to collect high value tokens but if you land on another person's "camp", they go back to the start zone from wherever they are. It was still strategic this way for advanced players, but made the learning curve non-existent for new players. The follow up games Trekking the World and Trekking through History are supposed to address and refine some of the elements that made TtNP more difficult, though. Not sure about HerStory though.
That said, the games are enjoyable, and if you're looking for something accessible to all ages while still learning something, I highly recommend their trivia games related to these.
