This is a good intermediate-level piano, decent build quality and overall profile isn't too big so it will fit well in any room. The key action is good and the 40W speakers sound great. My only complaint would be the finish on the keys themselves - they're a bit too glossy (and hence grippy) for my tastes. I think some of the expensive Roland or Yamaha ones have ivory feel keys which are better.

However, Adorama customer service is absolutely AWFUL. My box came in severely damaged, which is pretty typical for UPS in my area (union job, high pay and yet these clowns can't do their jobs properly - go figure). I opened up the box and the base wood piece that holds the pedal was badly damaged. I tried calling Adorama, but their CS wanted me to send in photos of the damage to a separate team and wait 5-7 business days for a response. Fine, I do just that and 5 days later someone informs me that they will need to "validate" the damage and UPS will come by to pick up my package. I guess the photos and my word wasn't good enough.

I'm pretty annoyed at this point as the keyboard was meant to be a birthday present, but regardless I go along with it and wait. UPS never shows up so I send a followup E-mail to Adorama asking for an update. I guess the CS agent ran out of macro prompts for the E-mail, I got back a completely nonsensical E-mail that didn't make any sense. I tried calling back to escalate, but no go - need to contact them again via E-mail. Another week passes and I get a response from someone else at Adorama CS apologizing for the delay and that UPS would pick up the package without fail within the next 2 days.

That didn't happen either. I gave up at this point and contacted Korg directly, trying to see if I could just buy the base piece from them. They sent me that part absolutely free of cost!

So overall, the piano is good, but I definitely would not recommend anyone purchases large items like this from Adorama. I recall them having pretty decent service back in the day, but it looks like everything is outsourced now and their systems are a complete mess.

I had a very similar interaction with Adorama a few years ago. The piano was fully functional, but they would not take responsibility for the fact that it arrived damaged. I would have been happy with a discount, but they insisted I return it for them to assess. Then they simply credited me the discounted price that I'd paid and refused to replace it. I might MIGHT order small electronics from Adorama (which historically was all I ordered from them). But I would avoid for something like a piano.

I bought the LP-380 through this deal and received the piano 5 days ago.

For a little background, I've played the piano for almost 50 years, but always just for fun. I'm pretty good, but nobody's going to come to listen to me play. Until 5 years ago, I had an old Steinway grand piano. I loved it, and it was beautiful and had a beautiful sound when it was tuned. But it required a lot of maintenance and most of the time it was not in tune, which made it less desirable to play, which meant I played it less and got out of practice. Ultimately I got rid of it because of the amount of maintenance it required and the fact that (partly as a result) I wasn't playing it much. I also live in an apartment, and I was always worried about disturbing my neighbors.

About 5 years ago, I bought a Yamaha Clavinova CLP-645. This is one of the best purchases I've ever made. I think its sound is hardly different (to my ears) from my Steinway grand after it had been tuned - big and beautiful. It requires no maintenance, and I can play it without disturbing my neighbors. As a result, I play it a lot more, I'm much more in-practice, and I enjoy playing the piano much more. I have some minor gripes about it (mainly, the higher notes seem too bright to me), but even acoustic pianos all have their oddities. In my opinion, I would buy the Yamaha over an acoustic upright in a second.

I have a second home, and I wanted to buy a cheaper digital piano to play when I'm there, and that's where the LP-380 came in, which I've been playing for the past 5 days.

1. This is definitely the newer "U" model, with front-facing speakers and USB MIDI in and out.
2. It is physically much ... less ... than my Yamaha. On the upside, assembly is extremely easy and fast. On the downside, its appearance is cheaper, the music stand is just the keyboard cover when flipped up (which is not an optimal angle), and there is no space around the keyboard to put stuff. I don't think this is a big deal.
3. I really like the sound, especially with the headphones. For some reason, without the headphones, the way it's tuned (the temperament, I suppose) makes it sound to me just slightly out of tune at times. This may depend on the space it's in (since I don't notice it as much with the headphones). Without the headphones, I compensate by turning down the brightness and turning off the reverb (both at a push of a button). I also find it slightly hard to control the dynamics, which I've fixed by decreasing the touch sensitivity (push of a button). And the soft pedal has more of an effect than I'm accustomed to.
4. I think the action is fine. Easier to play, I think, than my Yamaha.

People will quibble about the sound of a digital piano, and I often read commentators writing things like "Good for a beginner" or "Get an acoustic piano if you can afford it." I think this piano (and my Yamaha) sound and play better than any acoustic upright I've ever played. And, if you keep in mind that most people will not religiously keep their acoustic pianos tuned and in good shape, there's just no comparison. I don't need or want a better sound. Someday, when I play at Carnegie Hall, I'll be using an acoustic concert grand. Until then, this is a great experience.

Based on my research, this does not have Bluetooth connection as in the Costco one even thought it is a higher-end one compared to the Costco's.
Question for people who own digital pianos, how important do you think to have a Bluetooth connection for the piano?

Also, based on the blog link below, a USB Midi and USB Streaming are "must-have" if you want to connect to external devices specially IOS devices.
https://azpianonews.blogspot.com/...-2013.html
However, these features are only on the newer model, the 2022 Korg LP-380-U (with the letter "U" in the model). I was wondering if this model is actually a newer model with the new USB features mentioned above.
Thanks-

This is definitely the newer U model and seems to be an excellent buy. Read more at this review here:

This one is definitely better than Costco $550. Keys feel much close to really piano. But the speaker not good as some brand that sell over $1500
This is a better piano, but it's not because of the action and/or feel which, from what everything I've ever seen is still better on the Roland despite it being in a lower price class. It's weird that you'd pick like the one thing that isn't actually better on this piano and cite that.

If you live in an apartment/condo, headphones are an absolute necessity and bluetooth are the most convenient types. Corded headphones typically have a long and heavy cable that gets in the way.

Bluetooth lets you play external music on the piano's speakers (Bluetooth in). I don't think there's ever Bluetooth OUT on digital pianos, because even a small amount of latency would make the piano-playing experience intolerable. You always need corded headphones.

I did not like the action or the sound on this very much, but it is one of the only pianos that I have seen with a digital audio interface.

Does anyone know why you cannot find this deal when you search in Adorama's website? I mean you cannot get this price unless you click from SD. I was gonna use 10% cash back from capitalone shopping but can't see the same price even when directly go to adorama.com

Can anyone share their assessment of this LP-380 vs Yamaha DGX-670?

I don't have local stores that carry Korgs so can't try them out but the reviews seem to make it appealing.

Kiddo has been practicing for a year and continues to show interest in playing piano. She's 7 now.

The one I have is not weighted and when in class she plays on a grand Petrov and I can see the hits/misses tied to weighted action.

I'm not trained so can't call out the details in sounds and kiddo is still young/new to call out the difference.

I'd like this purchase to last 2+ years into her advancement.

I've narrowed it down to Korg LP 380 , Casio 770/870 and was suggested to explore DGX 670.

Thoughts?

Try putting it in your cart after clicking through the link here, and then go through Capital One. It should keep the promo price in your cart.

The Yamaha DGX 670 is probably the best instrument among these. Almost any Yamaha is a probably good solid choice for a piano student, but this one comes with lots of features that Yamaha usually reserves for higher price models. It is arguably the best bang for your buck in this price range. The only major downsides are it won't have a lid. It's also very heavy so definitely don't think of it as portable. Also I think the only way to use 3 pedals with it is to buy the stand Yamaha makes especially for it. If you want it to last 2+ years she will definitely need 3 pedals at some point. As an alternative, there was a deal here on an Arius for $899 which may still be active.

The Kawai ES110 is also a big favorite. Keep in mind that Yamaha and Kawai both make real acoustic pianos, Casio and Korg do not.

Between those Korg and Casio choices, I personally would go with Casio. The deal on the 770 at Adorama is still good on the walnut color. It's probably the best deal around on a piano with a lid. There are some bad reviews on the quality of the stand though, and hearing how Adorama handles damages I would be cautious.

Thanks, I'm very close to pulling the trigger on this one. How would you describe the action? I felt the Roland FP1 or FP10 version at costco and the key action felt a little too heavy for me. It wasn't plugged in though so I couldn't hear the sound..

I'm coming from a 61 key Casio digital keyboard so I would hope this sounds way better.

very sad. however the deals they offer, no other company can match. makes me wonder how they can do this pricing as there seems to be no way of making a profit this way. many of these deals seem to be at almost half price.

Edit, just received a small keyboard from Adorama, no problems and in good shape. ........best price on the net.

Sorry, I didn't see your question. Action and sound are always subjective and honestly it isn't bad. Keep in mind I'm not an expert, just an enthusiast. What I didn't like was that it felt a little more like spring resistance than counter weighting. (Obviously, it is counterweighted) I think this Korg action feels closer to Roland than to Casio or others at this price point.

Lol, I also played the FP1 at Costco recently. Probably it's just not what I'm used to at the moment, but I could probably get used to it. I think it would feel heavy to me if I played on it for 1h+. Sound is more important to me and while I realize 90% of people would disagree, I greatly prefer the main grand piano samples on Casio and Kawai to other brands.

I'm just going to throw out there that I have seen all 3 of these pianos at Guitar Center, though probably they no longer carry the Casio 770, just in case there is one near you.
