It's sad that Chase just copies the categories from Discover. I think that's the reason Discover stopped disclosing the categories for the entire year in advance.
I have both the cards and I hate to see overlapping categories. With overlapping categories, I always choose paying with Discover, because there is always a bonus when redeeming points for gift cards.
This is only for the freedom and freedom flex cards. Please update the description OP
Doesn't work for freedom unlimited. Only the Freedom Flex and Freedom get these offers

Anyone tried buying Amazon GCs at Kroger and seeing if those get included in the 5%? Because that could be worth maxing out, besides regular grocery purchases.
i really hate these posts being done 1 day before i can activate, b/c then no one else will post it (it will be a dupe) and then i wont remember come the next day
Chase sends email reminders after the bonus is eligible for activation. If you fail to activate it within X days, they send it again. How many times do you need to be reminded? How do you make it to work in the morning? Does Mom come get you?
It'll come back, it just falls under the "warehouse wholesale" category, not grocery. But remember, the freedom card is Mastercard and Costco is partnered with Visa anyways

i dont get those emails, weird.
yes, mommy turns on the shower for me and cooks me some tendies and bacon
Man, I must be in the minority but I like this quarter. Whatever I don't spend for groceries, I buy gift cards for other stuff. Grocery gift cards to use throughout the year, Google play cards to pay for YoutubeTV, gas cards, or just Visa GCs to use on most everything else (effective 3.8-4% cash back after fees assuming you buy a $500 one).
Now I get most people don't like to lock their money into GCs, but it works for me.
I'm with you. I track and end up with the max on both discover and freedom
Anyone know if I can purchase gift cards (I.e. Amazon) at Target and it would still qualify? Or will their system somehow trigger it not to count since it's a gift card.
Really? The CF quarterly categories get reposted multiple times in my experience.
Anyway, just put it on your calendar to sign up each quarter.
Entirely beside the point; Chase does a terrible job promoting such opportunities and simplifying activation ... shouldn't fall on SD to pick up the slack, imo

This will help make a dent on my $200++/mo lifetime fitness membership
There's a reminder function at Chase. You can sign up reminder emails, or simply add it to your Google Calendar, or whatever one you use
