I remember when the first PCI 4.0 NVMe's launched you were lucky to pay under $120 per 1TB. They should continue to fall through the floor into next year.

I remember back in 1885 the first time I didn't have to churn my own butter. Good times indeed

Because Chinese knew how to make it. It's even 30% cheaper in China since a year ago.

Is China really a major supplier of NAND chips now?

I don't understand why some have a 3 year warranty. Like this one, and some come with a 5 year? Is there a difference in technology?

"Samsung and SK Hynix both have NAND fabs in China. Alongside YMTC's capacity, our data shows that China totals 24% of global NAND production in Q3 2022." - https://www.semianalysis.com/p/20...comparison

I think "the Chinese knows how to make it" is true but misleading in the context of what drives down NAND prices. Most of the high end NAND is still designed by Japanese, Korean and US companies but some of it using NAND fabs in China. YMTC is the sole major Chinese NAND development company.

Yup, since YMTC is ramping up 232 layer production like there is no tomorrow.

I mean… that's all tech. 40" 720p TVs were $10,000 when they came out.

China's YMTC now leads over Samsung and Micron in 3D RAND by the first entering mass production of the world's first 232-layer–plus 3D NAND flash.

Took years to come down though. PCI 4.0 drives fell by more than 1/2 in not even two years.

Covid China lockdown is reopening up, freight prices coming down as well as gas. So everything should drop in price. "Should"
