Compared to others, eBay has 2 years warranty from Allstate and 5% cash back from slickdeals.

Unclear how this thread isn't on fire(?). The CPU is a 4-core i-series CPU that is not a barn-burner, but should be more than sufficient for productivity and the Minecraft/e-mail/Zoom functions at which this platform was targeted. The same is true for the 8GB RAM configuration. Additionally, the CPU is supported for Windows 11 [microsoft.com], which suggests a long software/security support life potential for this laptop. The laptop is shipped and sold by Newegg. Additionally, even though the laptop is refurbished it is a Microsoft Certified Refurbished device giving it a 1-year warranty and putting it on par with buying refurbished items bought directly from Microsoft.

On top of all this, you get the design which incorporates a 3:2 touchscreen and impressive design for the price point (consider that the Go models were always intended as a "discount" series).

Contrasted with recent deals there were some of the Dell refurbs which got down to around $200 for 8th generation CPUs. The devices were definitely MUCH less sleek (being enterprise devices), but otherwise pretty comparable in performance/configuration (though having notably older CPUs). The next option have been some of the 4-core i-series laptops in the $250-300 range. Most of those haven't featured touchscreens, much less the slim and portable design of the Surface Laptop Go. More unfortunately, the $250 deals have gotten a bit more scarce since Black Friday.

Although there's definitely evidence that you could get a similarly capable laptop for less, there haven't been many comparably premium-ish laptops that have come close to this configuration at this price point. Especially for those shopping in the kids/mom/grandma this should be a solid pick at this price.

Good luck!
Jon
Reviews were pegging this laptop's battery life at around 7-8 hours:

https://www.tomshardware.com/revi...-laptop-go
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Mic...859.0.html
https://www.pcworld.com/article/3...eview.html

However, do consider that even as a refurbished device this battery isn't likely to have been swapped so you shouldn't expect like new performance.

Good luck!

Not really in the market for another gadget, but thumbs up to the thread regardless.

I've indeed seen that pricing on Slickdeals from third party refurbishers / sellers. Was there an instance from a traditional retail seller in that same price?

Good luck!

I actually just bought a Surface laptop 4 with the AMD Ryzen 5 4 series for $100 more. It was open box but came in great condition with minor marks, downgraded it to Windows 10 and it runs awesomely.

Generally none of the surface devices are designed to be upgradeable.
