I ordered one last night from Walmart. The left-handed one is usually available. You just have to keep checking the site if you want a right-handed one because they tend to go out of stock more often.

Do I need this? I have a bunch of Penn spinner and conventional setups, but no baitcasters. Just got into freshwater in the last couple years.

Do you need it? No. I have fished my entire life and still prefer a spinning reel to a bait caster. I have some bait casters and I don't use them near as much. Now there are those that prefer the bait caster for sure. The bait caster just where my wrist out too quick when using it. It is a preference thing. If you want to try one out and see how you like it, this would probably be a good one to try. It does take a little practice to get the hang of a bait caster if you have not used one before. I do have 2 of these Jordan Lee rod and reel combos in the spin casting model and I love them.
