Seems like a lot of reviews from the last year don't think $7 was a good deal. Also, will not plug directly into an iPhone without an additional adapter

You really need to keep in mind the captive audience for these things. They are targeted for Apple products. First thing is they are not white, second thing is they are not an official Apple branded product. That's what the majority of Apple owners want, otherwise it's not cool and isn't that a big part of owning Apple products?

Apple got cute and used a different standard on the 3.5mm jack(ground and mic are inversed). Worst case, you cant use the headset mic on androids. I know a few phones back in the day could recognize the difference and flip the signal, not sure if this is true today

Thank you, I was really into their brand headphones many years ago, I purchased two pairs. Also people asking about why apple vs android listing is probably the built in controls, many devices would not work or not know how to handle the control buttons.

I second that. But I plugged mine into an iPod so the buttons worked for me! Even at $13 (current amazon price), they're a great deal.
