I bought this card a month ago for 690 bucks from newegg.

I love the card, but this is not a great deal.

There is a miniscule performance difference. This card at $800 is complete highway robbery. A 4080 is a poor value but is better than this, being around 75% faster for 50% more money.

Are you sure about that?
Most benchmarks will show the 6950 xt has about 75% the performance vs 4080.

That is at 4k, at lower resolutions the amd card actually closes the gap to about 80 percent.

In other words even at this price its a better price to performance than 4080 and at the price I got it for kills the 4080 value wise.

That's just cope, the library of titles this tech affects will only grow as its getting easier to do, people are even just copying game files from other titles using the same engine to enable the same effects even. The small price difference isn't enough to save them when AMD are unfortunately stuck with a last generation feature set.

Its literally the most overblown feature in the history of graphics cards. The benefit is better lighting. The improvement is subjective.

The trade off is a terrible performance hit even for nvidia cards.
