fyi got a 12.9" 1tb M1 cellular from Gazelle for $950.....couldn't see spending $400 or 500 more to get a 2022...check gazelle...hope the battery is good on it though...if not will send it back!

Have you been on Twitter & searched for @Gazelle? A lot of complaints from people who have bought devices. Bad reviews on TrustPilot & ResellerRatings too. Hope you don't get screwed with your purchase.

if you need to think hard about the use case, then there is no need to get one. buy apple stock instead of this apple product

well also the M2 has ProRes encoders on the chip so if you use iPad to edit pro video, you get a big speed improvement in exports. its several times faster than M1 so for this reason I would not buy M1 just because these days, these iPads are long term purchases

if you cant think of a reason to buy an iPad, dont do it. I also use a new MacBook Pro most of the time. bought iPad minis and regualr iPads and didnt really use them other than reading books cause its light an easy to hold and take on the go. Things changed when I got the iPad mini 6 with cellular. having 5g internet on it all the time and it being easy to take on the go was convenient but I still dont use it much at home other than reading. It's also nice to take it to the gym to hold and read/watch Netflix while on stair master. For these reasons, I dont find the bigger iPads practical unless you are using it at home ofter or you are editing documents wiht the pencil. the mini is just so light and easy to travel with plus the cellular includes gps antenna in it for car navigation. You'll feel discouraged to take iPad out of the house because they are big and you do most of your usual stuff on phone anyways. But I would buy the 12 inch pro if I was using iPad to edit video, edit photos or edit documents often.

If you already have a macbook, ipad doubles as a second monitor seamlessly with the sidecar functionality. A lot of the time, I watch instructional videos fullscreen on the macbook, and have excel or a coding environment displayed on the ipad so I can follow along in realtime.

Other functionalities for me (as others have noted) are as a kindle reader, portable video player, and occasional babysitter for my 5 year old daughter

Even if the M2 version running MacOS lite doesn't materialize, the M2 will be supported by Apple for at least one more year than the M1 and should remain useable for at least one more year as well, deferring replacement by at least a year.

Damn. No I haven't. Thanks for the heads up! At least they seem to have a 30 day moneyback guarantee and I also paid with PayPal and citi Costco credit card. One way or another if the thing is garbage I can get it returned I think. It's a bit of a risk, that's true.
