Pros:
Powerful, climbs hills and very rarely gets bogged down by thick grass. I let the grass grow tall once last summer (4 weeks or so) and it did much better than expected only bogging down in really thick areas
Starts every time, no problem
Easy to clean
Comfortable
Decent turn radius
Cons:
Loud as others have mentioned
Cut often or get a mulch blade, I cut often
Gas hungry
Prefers no ethanol gas (they all do so. This is not really a con) which can be hard to find
I wish I had paid this price for mine. I got it on sale last year for a couple hundred more. I'd call this slick if you're in the market.
My defect seemed to be a one off, but it became clear that the HD cub cadets are a lower quality then anywhere else.
If you cut the lawn like an idiot when its wet of course it will leave clumps.
When i think of how to mow the lawn, I think..."how would an idiot mow the lawn ? " and then I don't do it that way
I have had my XT2 I got from Home Depot for 6 years and use it a LOT (2-3 times a week during summer on 2 acre lawn)..I've sent it out for repairs once. I paid 1499.00.

Tractor manufacturers love suckers like you because they know your lawn tractor will last about a third of what a quality one would last, and they'll get you for the extra on the repair parts in between.
Also - bumping this old thread to see if anyone knows if there are still any deals to be had on entry level ride-on mowers. About to go drop around $2800 on a 46" husqvarna unless I can find a deal (or at least know when they might be coming).
Too bad Home depot doesnt send out those 15% off coupons anymore.

The two repairs isn't even counting the things I had to repair myself. The first Craftsman I purchased had to be sent back to Lowe's. They sent out a replacement. Both had problems with the belts coming off when I engage the PTO This is why I sent back the first, but the second ended up having the same problem. The other annoyance I had was they put the oil filter on so tight that you couldn't even wrench it off. I even went and got my neighbor who does lawn mower repair on the side. Between both of us, we ended up having to demolish the oil filter before we could put a new one on. After this mower dies, no more Lowe's mowers for me.
