Much smaller, but little overlap. Owned by Sentai Filmworks a unit of AMC, they have several shows I like. I have subs to both myself.
I found it on reddit. And for the person who says they would rather pirate...if you like an anime (or song, or movie) if you like it and want to see more like it or for the show continue another season, well if they do not make money, no more show. That is why I pay and support the types of programming I enjoy, because I want to see more like it and more of it!

at this rate, just go back paying for cable.
While I agree, what cable provider would replace the likes of Crunchyroll, Hi-Dive, etc. for my dose of legal streaming anime?

From what I remember cable doesn't have a deluge of anime shows. The only exception is cartoon network but that is only one night a week.

Pirating is just so much more convenient now days...and honestly so much faster also. They even remember where I left off if I come back later...idk why I would ever go to a paid service for less content.
I did my fair share of sailing the high seas decades ago going back to VHS tapes, but what sites will let you do so (stream) without being pummeled with pop-ups and ads in general? Genuinely curious.

Besides the one-off unlicensed show, streaming is too convenient, esp with simulcasts. And with a VPN, you can get a monthly sub for literally under $1 a month.

I feel like they've lost some content that they had as recently as a year ago, especially classics such as Ideon. So, make sure they have what you want to watch before you sign up.

I personally just use 9anime...I'm sure there are other options. With ublock origin (ad blocker). I have never gotten an ad/pop up on it.

Wait until you hear about anime artists sleeping under their desks and dieing at there because they are not getting a living wage then you really will want to pirate to avoid giving the scumbag studio bosses a dime for treating their artists so poorly see this video https://youtu.be/6CO6adDW_rI

Better to support the fund they having going

The only time i pirate/watch on free streaming sites is Anime. It's just to convenient not to pirate anime it's very hard and expensive just to watch/buy anime so I'll rather just stream it for free.

I did a free trial recently. The Roku app is pretty terrible. They have very few new shows, those shows are lower quality than usual, and most of their catalogue is the extra perverted negative stereotype genres.

Just got this last week and personally I would say it's worth it. There are really only two platforms that anime will be on, this one and Crunchyroll now that Funimation merged with it. The UI is terrible though and no where near as good as Crunchyroll's or any other streaming platform. On mobile, there aren't any dedicated skip/rewind buttons so that is extremely annoying, especially when wanting to skip intros/endings. The interface itself is really really ugly as well. But the only important thing to me personally is being able to watch anime and I'm able to do that fairly easily. Also, I do really like the profiles feature, as I can make one for myself and my brother and we won't end up ruining each other's queues.

I was hoping they'd do another $24 promo this year. They are the last holdouts against the Sony monopoly. Sony owns Rightstuf, Crunchyroll and Funimation. Sony is also very aggressive with censorship. I feel like I have to support hidive moreso than getting a good use out of their streaming app.

Tried them over the summer. Is their app still atrocious?
Absolutely trash app on Android TV! First time with HIDIVE...good contents held back by the worst Android TV app I have ever experienced:
* Starting up and returning to main screen always takes ~10 sec to load UI. You need to be a very patient user to navigate this app
* Intermittently remembers your queue, favorites, and episodes you have watched. Haven't found a pattern yet. Everytime it forgets, I have to search the show and try to remember which episode to continue
* Does not remember your audio/subtitle language settings

When my sub expires, if this app has not improved, I won't be a returning customer no matter how good the contents are.

Not had this issue or any other with either my Apple TV or Chrome on my PC. I do have it on my Roku TV but that does not get viewed as much so not sure on it. They also have some shows only on their service...its definitely worth $3 a month for me.

I had a few animes I wanted to watch that HIDIVE has.

Akame Ga Kill: Was very disappointed with the ending lol.

K-On: Because I watched Bocchi and I like guitar now.

Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon: Well, I watched the first few seasons when they were on funimation.

Ya boy kongming: seemed to have a good reception at the time.

IDK about the other kinds of anime they may or may not have. They do have those. Also: The stupid site makes me log in again every time I restart my computer. Also: The video player only has two sizes: Small fixed size and FULL SCREEN! (grr)

9anime
wcofun.net
Are a couple that I frequent. They have most anime as soon as they are released and no ads/popups with extensions installed. 9anime also has both sub and dub when available. wcofun has it but you have to know the japanese and/or english title
