To the best of what I know: The Ryzen is a little cooler running, and more power efficient, but the CPU loses out on horsepower and especially multithreading to the Intel. But in MOST gaming you're really only talking a few FPS, single digits for most people.

Between the Intel and AMD options for the last few generations (Intel 10th gen and up and AMD 5XXX and up), they really do trade blows pretty well. Intel gets some good gains with the new 12th and up architectures with the implementation of E-Cores. For productivity, Intel all the way right now. But for gaming, price wins, look for the best price and be happy knowing you're going to have a good time.

Honestly the bigger win on this machine is the GPU. The 3070 Ti is pretty crazy, especially when it's allowed full wattage like this one. I'm pushing a 2k ultrawide monitor (external) and it's handling it like a champ with great frame rates.

I don't have it in hand. Had a friend that lives close to a micro center pick me up one and he was bringing it to me. I started digging for info since on paper it seemed amazing but all I read about is crazy high temps throttling it.

How long are you looking for? It's going to be bad compared to other laptops. This is a high end gaming machine with power hungry components as a result. I've got the x14 with 12700h and 3060. With all the power limiting stuff on it's like 5 hours tops. Cranked up gaming I could kill the battery in under an hour. It has an 80 Whr battery in it. This one is 86 Whr so if you're really lucky you may see similar battery life but likely to see less due to the larger screen. Contrast this with Ultrabooks with the low power CPUs that easily get 10-12 hours and you see the trade-off you're making for basically desktop machine components jammed into a laptop.

On the Intel version (I think the AMD is the same but can't promise) they are slotted and not soldered. I already upgraded my RAM to 32GB and added a second 2TB NVME drive.

The drive was a simple add on. 2 2280 sockets, one with the stock drive. The WIFi card is also easily swappable.

The RAM took a little work and only works with Crucial RAM as far as I can attest (Corsair Vengeance failed even though Corsair lists it as compatible).

How is the quality control on open box excellent?

I saw someone post they returned their laptop to best buy complaining about coil whine and other problems with it and the employee slapped an open box excellent sticker on it, is this true? Are we getting defective laptops with open box excellent?

I bought a x14 open box excellent certified and it was perfect with zero signs of use and no problems. That's just my experience.
