[QUOTE=The_Love_Spud;160442353]The review from Chrome Unboxed [youtu.be] explicitly noted how sturdy the chromebook feels when closed. However, the review dings the feel when opened. I'd caution anyone to consider that most reviews of the C433 were made in the context of its original, arguably exorbitant, $500 retail price. Even Chrome Unboxed later gave a general thumbs up [chromeunboxed.com] when this latest price development first appeared (the most recent article being titled "This "faux" flagship Chromebook is actually worth buying at this price").

https://chromeunboxed.com/asus-ch...33-review/

I have peeked at this repair video [youtu.be] and wondered how hard it would be to eliminate those magnets which seem to be positioned on either side of the trackpad.

Good luck!

I'd keep the cheaper one. The specs are the same. You're paying $60 extra for slightly better build quality and touchscreen with this one. That's a 50% increase in price. I may be willing to pay that premium on something that costs more than $300 but can't justify it for a cheap machine like this one.
Thank you for the feed back ! Happy holidays !!

Nits: Asus lists both as having 250 nits screens, but one review says 170-180 nits for the 425; someone in a previous thread speculated it may be because of the matte screen on the 425 vs the glossy 433.

I finally got around to picking up my order at BB and I directly compared it to another 250 nit screen I have on a Lenovo 5. This computer is 250 nits. What I think is throwing people off is that it is a matte screen, which does make it look a little dimmer. Glossy screens look more vivid because they are well...glossy...and if you are used to glossy screens on phones and tablets you may not like this screen.

Also, it doesn't have great viewing angles which is both a pro and con.

Anyone know if I can at least install windows or Linux OS as a dual boot option on this? I haven't touched a chromebook since like the first generation.

I tried one of these around BF and it was awful. The keys are hard to see under nearly all circumstances, even if the monitor is the only light you've got in the room. White light on essentially white keys, with white letters even when the backlit is off is a weird design decision.

What I cannot stress enough is how awful the screen is. The color is really bad, regardless of brightness settings. Everything has a faded brownish tinge to it. There are no settings to correct this problem, I tried my best to fix it but it's a hardware issue. Whites look stained, and non-white colors have that tint in it.

I get that this is a low-cost config, but I had an old eeePC900 with a legible keyboard and a better color (albeit tinier and lower resolution) monitor than this.

The C433 has a full metal chassis. It looks nicer than the C425 but is also heavier. The keyboard does have more give than the C425 surprisingly. Colors on the C433 is brighter and more vibrant.

That said, I don't see a huge reason to upgrade to the C433 if you have the C425. They perform similarly in terms of web browsing and running apps.
what is the diff in weight ? 10% 20%? i only thing i dont like about c433 is the weight compared to galaxy chromebook which is expensive

I'll be returning mine. you can find dell 5190's used in A condition for $50. has screen and usbc charging smaller screen lighter.. plus the aluminum gets cold and annoying.
you can also find used touched screen win machine with 16gb and upgradable storage
for less than 150 with backlit..

As far as touch screen...it's handy and when i switch back to my main windows laptop i get annoyed when i go to touch the screen and it doesn't work lol

I bought this the last time it was on sale for this price, and although I don't regret the purchase considering the price, the 64 GB storage is very limiting in regards to installing the android apps. Although you can extend it with SD cards, the android apps cannot be stored there and there is no option to format the SD card as internal storage. Besides that, I highly recommend it for this price, but be aware of the limitations.
you should be able ot enable developer mode and then allow apps to install to SD.. but i would rather just use a usb drive

Picked up a couple black/White letter keyboard skins for $8.00 from Amazon for my C425's and am amazed how well they fit. Ya can't even tell it's a skin and it adds a nice rubberized feel to the keys. Completely solved the visibility issue.
