I bought this the last time it was on sale for this price, and although I don't regret the purchase considering the price, the 64 GB storage is very limiting in regards to installing the android apps. Although you can extend it with SD cards, the android apps cannot be stored there and there is no option to format the SD card as internal storage. Besides that, I highly recommend it for this price, but be aware of the limitations.
Funny, I bought that C13 Thinkbook earlier this year with only 32GB storage and haven't had an issue even with 10GB dedicated to Linux. Run streaming through PWAs in Chrome, and add Android apps and alternative browsers that don't hog space.

Think this can run ROBLOX? might bute the bullet and buy my 2nd and 1st graders tablets, but these look interesting.
Runs Minecraft and Roblox just fine on Win11 - even runs Bluestacks (for some Android apps) - but alittle choppy

Well said. The recent discount pricing on both models very explicitly highlights the $50 premium being paid for the touch screen (and, to some extent, the 2-in-1 form factor). For a user like myself, for who Android app support and other touch screen-centric applications are critical the $50 are worth it (particularly at this overall low price). However, there's a broad group of users for whom the 'basics' of browsing are all that's needed and the $129 killer price to deliver that functionality was a key consideration.

I'm just happy to be able to jump on this deal now as only in the interim did I realize that I would indeed have a use for bringing another chromebook like this into the house (so that I can completely retire an older ASUS R11 and let it become someone else's opportunity).

Good luck!
Jon
It's not going to run ALL Android apps. It may run some. I bought that Lenovo Yoga 13 inch with the pen Chromebook that was 150 bucks. There's programs on the ChromeBook Play store that won't install, or if they do won't run. No idea if it's my brand of Chromebook or all Chromebooks. MS Edge isn't something that you can install that way. I went into Developer mode, installed LINUX, then installed the LINUX version of Edge.

Is this one fold all the way? The pictures on the web don't really show it. Would the kids be able to use it in the car like a tablet ? Thanks.

Picked up a couple black/White letter keyboard skins for $8.00 from Amazon for my C425's and am amazed how well they fit. Ya can't even tell it's a skin and it adds a nice rubberized feel to the keys. Completely solved the visibility issue.
Direct link please.

Been waiting for this to drop in price again. Think I'll return the non-touchscreen I bought for $119 and get this instead.
Can I return the 119$ one even though I broke the seal? Haven't used it just charged it.

Funny you should mention Roblox ! I bought the non touch screen version of this to avoid buying a Nintendo switch so my niece can play Roblox . I'm computer illiterate no idea really what is a Roblox is . I'd rather see the kids throw a ball or ride a bike etc Genx stuff than on a device . I did some research on this Roblox before my decision. This Roblox is very expensive to play not the system it self or computer to play it on but the actual game it self you pretty much need to pay to play! Roblox seems to be only a expensive fad that should soon fade . What a rip off of you ask me!

How's the battery life compared to how it was on ChromeOS? Thanks.

I do not think you would be surprised to learn that this is exactly how I operate Edge on my Samsung Galaxy chromebook (using the Linux client within the ChromeOS Linux sandbox). Fortunately, activating the Linux sandbox within ChromeOS is trivially easy [google.com] and installing Edge in x86 Linux isn't controlled by Microsoft in the way they're able to restrict Play ... [microsoftedgeinsider.com].

Partdon the pun if I cite Microsoft Edge as an edge case; another example that few might attempt would be Samsung's mobile browser. In both cases, I expect the developer is intentionally avoiding x86 devices (though Microsoft appears to have gone even further, limiting most everything that isn't clearly a phone).

Otherwise, I love to advocate for alternative browsers on ChromeOS as it is a long-term option for chromebooks past their support date but which won't be granted this feature through the current development path for ChromeOS which will eventually decouple the Chrome browser from the... [aboutchromebooks.com]. At the same time, I would recognize that the vast majority of chromebook users will stick to the Chrome browser or may consider a fully supported Android browser like Opera (which widely advertises support for chromebooks via the Android Play store [opera.com]). In the same way, very few developers seem to bother with restricting chromebooks as an option for their app in the Play store even though that is a lever they can indeed enable (as the Microsoft Edge example illustrates).

Thanks for creating an opportunity to discuss alternate browsers on ChromeOS and also note the less-than completely universal nature of Play store support. As tablets and even some phones have often experienced the latter, it doesn't always get a mention even though it is still part of Google's Play store experience (either blame Google for allowing the broken experience and not enforcing universal support, or blame a given developer for avoiding platforms as part of their strategy).

Good luck!
Jon

Can someone summarize the difference between nontouch vs touchscreen?

So touchscreen has better build quality and touchscreen. What is the nits on each of them? Also someone said the touchscreen is more vibrant and looks better? So is that related to nits?

Someone said the touchscreen is glossy whereas the nontouch is matte? Can anyone else confirm this? I am not a fan of glossy display and always prefer matte display. Why would anyone want a glossy display?

So you can install linux on it but it has no sound?

Then what use is that then? But years later when no more updates, will you be install to install linux to get sound? Want to be able to use it after it expires. So anyone here use it as linux now? What about chromeflex that I heard of? So for now, use it as chromebook. Then use it as linux or chromeflex after no more updates?
