no ability to control exposure while the drone is in the air
need to register this model with FAA
Worse battery life than the previous model (DJI Mavic Air 2)
Difficult to export Pano mode images
Not good range in urban areas
MasterShots only available in 1080p max
Batteries can be easily changed but superior features like better optics, larger 1" 20mp sensor, speed, wind resistance, payload capacity for accessories, 10-bit D-LOG color, improved OcuSync 3 range and AirSense can not.
The FAA registration is $5 and no serious person sees that as any kind of limitation. If you're 107 you still have to register it regardless of weight. I honestly can't understand why anyone thinks this is even remotely important.

Cons
no ability to control exposure while the drone is in the air
need to register this model with FAA
Worse battery life than the previous model (DJI Mavic Air 2)
Difficult to export Pano mode images
Not good range in urban areas
ActiveTrack STILL has issues staying focused on the subject and picking safe flight paths
MasterShots only available in 1080p max
Mini 2 cons:
tiny 1/2.3 sensor, low light not as good as Air 2s 1" sensor
iso only up to 3200, air 2s double that for low light
no obstacle avoidance, so no active track to follow subject, very easy for noobs to lose their drone in a tree. buy the DJI Care refresh support or else.
no DJI support for D-Log for more professional post-production editing
no DJI support for hyperlapse

no ability to control exposure while the drone is in the air [ - False ]
need to register this model with FAA [ - it's $5, man, you still have to comply with all other laws and regulations. Also, the moment you add a 2g+ accessory to it like a strobe, prop guards or landing gear extensions, you will then need to register it and ALSO purchase a remote ID module ]
Worse battery life than the previous model (DJI Mavic Air 2)
[ - there's like a 2 minute difference between the two due to all of the extended sensors and feature improvements in the Air 2S, and it's possible to do an external battery mod to increase it further if necessary. Air 2 batteries are cheap, I've been buying them with 0 cycles for about $40-$45 each. ]
Difficult to export Pano mode images
[ False, the automated stitching and export process is the exact same as the Air 2S. The Mini 2 has fewer pano modes, takes fewer photos for 180, produces smaller less detailed images. ]
Not good range in urban areas
[ - the Air 2S has O3 and more antennas, it's better quality and has more range than Mini 2's O2 ]
MasterShots only available in 1080p max
[ - False, the Air 2S will do MasterShots in 4K ]

honestly, who cares where they come from. they are all the same drones, made by the same company, dji. it's a distinction without a difference.

I looked further into this and there are troubling signs. Even though the store is called "DJI Official" as the seller name, the return policy refers to the store as "DJI Authorized Retail Store". There is also a 15% restocking fee. Makes the deal less attractive. Still no word on the warranty. I will update the OP with this info

clearing it up for you or anyone else who is confused.
don't let the name fool you; it's just a name.
but the drone is still a dji drone and it was made in china. hate the refurb outlet if you may; that's fine.
