Bought one of these many years ago, cat refuses to use it and just sits on top to look out the window. She prefers the round rope kind.

any difference between the OP and this amazon basics post? looks the same. i usually like amazonbasics cause if it breaks they tend to cover it past return period https://smile.amazon.com/AmazonBa...07G3SLKQ8/
I've had both for years. I have bought both depending on what's cheaper when I replace them. They're functionally identical.

Both of these are far superior to the standard scratching posts. They'll last longer, making them ultimately cheaper, even at full price. $30 each is a steal.

Wait replace two, do they're easily destroyed?
One is 9 years old and the other 3 years old. We have three cats and they use them daily. They are still useable, but look a mess. This is the 9 year old one ...

The amazon one is a few inches taller, but the smartcat looks nicer.

I just don't want to commit to three and spend $90.

Have you tried taking the base off and laying it on the ground? Some cats prefer horizontal scratching. Worked for mine!

Can a scratchpost really last 3 years? My cats shredded theirs. I re-wrapped it with new sisal.
I have the scratching post and it's great. I know it sounds crazy. It's way better quality than any I've had in the past and it's also very tall, which I like. I've had it over 5 years (with 1 cat) and it's got lots of life left.

Put them in other rooms. My cat tends to scratch on furniture if there isn't a post in the room.
