This is a great deal on a sturdy dependable laptop for those of us who have to carry a laptop all day long. Yes the RAM is soldered and there is no touchscreen but you can expect to get at least a few years of all day labor out of it, which is what it's designed for.
I know there have been some iteration upgrades, this one is loaded with windows 11 pro which suggests it's one of the newer iterations and is just now available refurbed on Newegg.
From what I can tell this is the same laptop for sale on Amazon new for $1330 (only two left in stock 🤣) used like new for $700. It's hard to find apples to compare to apples with the gen 6 x1 carbons because they were in production so long but I think reputable merchants have this for no cheaper than $640. The ones on Tiger Direct and Backmarket for $470 and $490 have the same different cpu and W10 pro instead of W11 pro, for example.

I got a dell tablet with an i5 1140g7 that is 50 percent faster than this for 380 after tax, with 2 years of manufacturer warranty left. And I also found an HP 4500u laptop for 400 brand new a few years ago that is almost twice as fast.
What does the outside matter if the inside can't keep up nowadays? Are you still using your indestructible Nokia?

Any one you'd buy here has probably been through the paces so motherboard is probably decent for the long haul, but if it craps out, you're really out of luck, unless you know a Louis Rossman for Lenovos, and even then repair would probably be around computer cost. Even used motherboards are around $250-400....so sadly not even worth it for me to replace it...would just buy full computer used instead....
Edit: I loved this computer until it crapped out.

Overall v good laptop, however, despite powerful i7 processor not really supposed to be used for HP-Computing. Regarding used, one has to check carefully what specs each laptop has.
$297, plus tax and $19 shipping, so it works out to about $345 depending on local tax.
That's for X1 Carbon, 6th gen, i7-8650U, 16GB/500GB (Samsung), 2540x1440 14" screen, fingerprint reader, camera, battery, 30 days returns. Only thing better I can see is 7th gen with the same screen and CPU (or 7th gen with same screen and i7-1065U) - but prices for those doubled.
Given I have a few technical constraints (nothing past 10th gen i7), "for cheap" I felt like this was as close as I'd get to what I was looking for, for a very high quality screen, a very high quality keyboard, Trackpoint pointer, and reasonable everything else.
It's not the fastest. But for its' time (2019) it was the best on the market in the fully-integrated notebook market (ie I'm aware a T480 has a few advantages, like more easily replaceable parts). For $345, I'm game.
