2. Which delivery drivers are eligible to receive $5 per "thank you"?
- Amazon Flex Delivery Partners and Delivery Associates employed by Amazon Delivery Service Partners who deliver Amazon packages in the United States are eligible for this promotion, and will receive $5 for the first 1 million "thank yous" received, starting December 21. - To confirm that your "thank you" has been processed and $5 will be sent to the driver, Alexa will respond, "Glad you enjoyed your most recent delivery. Since you shared your appreciation with your driver, as a special thanks this holiday season, your driver will receive an extra $5 at no cost to you. This promotion is for a limited time only." You will not be charged anything when you thank your driver.
5. I thanked my driver in the first promotion that ended on December 8. Can I participate again?
- Yes, you can participate in the promotion again.
6. I don't own an Echo device. Can I still thank my driver?
- Yes, you can thank your driver using Alexa on the Amazon App or the Alexa App on your smartphone. Start by opening either the Amazon App or the Alexa App, and tap on the Alexa button in the bottom right corner of the screen to speak. Once microphone permissions are enabled, you can tap the Alexa button again and say, "Alexa, Thank My Driver."
7. What if I don't own a smartphone?
- At this time, only customers who have access to an Echo device, the Amazon App, or the Alexa App on their smartphone can access the feature.
8. What happens once an additional 1 million "thank yous" are received after December 21?
- The $5 per "thank you" promotion will end after another 1 million "thank yous" are received. You will still be able to thank your driver using Alexa and we will share your appreciation with our delivery partners.

While I agree and sympathize with most of the unhappy people griping about their terrible delivery experiences in these posts, I have to remind you that Amazon uses many different avenues of recruitment for their drivers, we are not one unified force and should not be grouped together like that. Most of the gray van and box truck drivers are 3rd party contractors and get severely overworked, and their frustration is reflected in their work. Others (myself included) are gig drivers who use our own vehicles, and for the most part, have very chill scheduled blocks that we choose ourselves. I stopped doing big box warehouse deliveries and exclusively do Amazon Fresh warehouse deliveries due to the low number of stops per route and the extra tips. Regular package deliveries do not include tips but have a higher base pay. The system is not perfect, and most drivers do not follow delivery instructions due to the sheer volume of packages they are required to deliver a day.
I have a covered porch and space at the back against the house. Yet they leavboxes hanging at the edge of the steps, exposed to the elements and full view of the street.
I'd be happy to help their cause if they could deliver properly, but it's a rarity no matter how I spell out delivery instructions. They'll walk 20 yards to my steps but once there, won't go that extra 5ft. Can't even remember the last time one left something inside the storm door even. Just abysmal.

Just this evening they show the cute Santa sleigh tracking and I'm the 5th in line but it's literally going across the bridge to the other side of the bay. Of course hours later they say it's late and try again tomorrow.
I even use Amazon lockers and those are hit and miss. They often deliver late and can't deliver to certain locker locations when the business is closed - ie Amazon Go stores in my city closes at 5 pm. I rather have UPS, USPS but we don't get that choice anymore do we?
They must have a really high turnover rate cuz i've never seen the same Amazon driver.

The point, you may have multiple drivers going to your house. In some areas it's even regular people driving on their own car using their own gas to make a few extra bucks for the holidays. So by refusing to tip, at no charge to you, a person who potentially has never even been to your house seems ok to you? I'm sure the other drivers that are not returning to your really feel sorry.
But random non professional Amazon drivers that constantly leave my packages at my steps when I have a covered porch, in plain site and exposed to the elements? Sorry, no. It's like giving my dog a treat for peeing on the rug.
You either lack common sense or Amazon does a shit job at training random delivery people. Maybe it's both. In what world does it make sense to leave packages in the open when the home has a covered porch? Four extra feet to put the package up against the house. Last month they didn't even make it to the steps. It was on my walkway.
I have delivery instructions on my account. They are never followed. So it's not just one driver, it's most. Yesterday, pouring rain all day. Box at the edge yet again. Got home at 9pm to a falling apart box with sticky packing tape all over. Inner boxes were wet. They were gifts. Had to take everything out while in the rain because the box couldn't be lifted with everything in it.
I feel sorry for you and other drivers who lack common sense and common courtesy while being ill prepared to do your job by your employer.
Like the waitress that complained about a 15% tip as I saw my table's food up and ready and looked at her having a snapchat convo. Never refilled waters. Never came back to ask how everything was. Brought us a check while our plates and everything were still on the table and only came back 10+ min later to take them away. I tip 20% for adequate service and a bit above for good service. You reward good service. And I had no problems with a shit tip when I knew I screwed the pooch back in my serving days.

I have no idea if this works but "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" and it seems to have gotten better since I've been providing feedback.
BTW - FedEx in particular is no better where I live. UPS and USPS seem to do the best job.
